What needs to be turned?
Please remember to turn in Yearbook orders and money if you wish to have a yearbook for your child at the end of the school year. We have time during the last week of school to sign yearbooks. All students have the opportunity to sign well wishes to friends on a classroom made signature book if you choose not to purchase a yearbook.
Math
Language Arts
Currently we are reading Social Studies non fiction text during our Reading Street time regarding triangular trade routes, colonial development and influential people of colonial times. We are comparing and contrasting the thirteen original colonies as well as locating them on a map. We will take our Unit 3 Week 3 spelling test this Friday, but will do the majority of the reading for Unit 3 Week 3, next week, when we have a full five days of class.
We continue build a foundation for essay writing. We are learning the structure of making a thesis statement in boxes and writing bullets that give us reasons of support for our thesis statement.
In preparation for author Johathan Rand's visit in March, we will do the first Michigan Chiller's Book read aloud. The whole school will be reading and preparing for this exciting visit!
Social Studies
We continue to keep updated on current events by watching a few minutes of CNN Student News daily and reading articles on Newsela. Our classroom will participate in Newsela's presidential primary election for kids (if they so choose) in March. Each week we will focus on key topics of the election. This week we focused on the issue of replacing a Supreme Court Justice.
