NOVEMBER 11 - NO SCHOOL - VETERAN'S DAY
ALL FAMILIES -
November 6 ends the first grading period. This is a progress report - letting families and scholars know how they are doing in their classes. RMMS teachers are available to discuss scholar progress during their office hours (virtual) or prep periods (classic). Please reach out to your scholar's teachers if you have concerns or questions. We are here to help.
CLASSIC SCHOOL FAMILIES -
Wow! What a week! Thank you to EVERY one of our classic scholars and their families! You are amazing! Thank you for keeping your contact information up-to-date, reading your emails, and listening to our calls. We work really hard not send home too many calls, however, these are strange times. We hope you know how much we appreciate and honor the tough work you are doing at home and managing these unforeseeable changes quickly.
As you know, we had 2 scholars test positive for COVID, which caused our school to pivot to virtual learning immediately. Both scholars had not been on campus since 10/27. Our RMMS team was fantastic in connecting with our families and getting our scholars home quickly and safely. We notified all close contact families as well as the school as a whole with this information. Safety is always our #1 priority.
Our custodial team continues to conduct deep disinfecting and sanitizing in classrooms each evening in addition to the work the scholars and staff are doing during the school day. Our campus is equipped with 5 new outdoor handwashing stations for scholars to use throughout the day and there is hand sanitizer available in classrooms without sinks.
We will return to in person learning on Thursday, November 12 as of the writing of this email. As you know, things change daily. San Diego is now on "purple" tier watch and we are not sure what will happen to our return if San Diego County returns to purple. We will keep you updated as we know new information. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We want NOTHING more than to have scholars on campus.

HERE IS THE SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIC SCHOLARS - effective 11/12/20
VIRTUAL SCHOOL FAMILIES -
Thank you for your continued work with your scholar at home. Our Virtual teachers are working hard to create engaging lessons and offer supports for scholars to be successful. As always, we are hoping to have more cameras on so that our teaching team can "see" our scholars. Much of our knowing if someone needs help happens through nonverbal communication - their faces usually tell us they don't understand something. Please remind your scholar to take advantage of office hours and opportunities for tutoring. Many teachers share that scholars are not showing up to this extra help. If you are not an Observer on your scholar's Canvas page, please take time to do that so you can see what they are doing.
