Interim School Principal will Continue with WSD
We are pleased to announce that Alejandra Mateos will be continuing her journey with the Woodburn School District. Alejandra has accepted the position of Assistant School Principal of Nellie Muir Elementary School for the 2023-24 school year. Currently, Alejandra is serving as the Interim Assistant Principal of Lincoln.
Alejandra Mateos is a longtime member of the Woodburn community. She is a former Woodburn student having gone through Lincoln Elementary, French Prairie & Valor middle school, and graduating from Success High School. Alejandra continued her educational journey while staying close to home where she completed a transfer degree at Chemeketa Community College in Woodburn and later transferred to Pacific University’s Woodburn campus. During her time with Pacific University, Alejandra served WSD as a student teacher at Washington and Nellie Muir Elementary. She has also served the community as a Girl Scouts activity leader through Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington and as a Parks and Rec soccer coach. Alejandra first gained her classroom experience as a dual language teacher in the Newberg School District. After completing her first year as a classroom teacher, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree in special education. While completing the program, she dove right into the role of special education teacher and began to use her background and language skills to create an inclusive and equitable learning experience for her students and their families. Alejandra lives in Woodburn with her son, her nephew, and their 3 cats. During her time off, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, floating on the river, and eating good food.
