ASSESSMENTS
By: Whitney Braswell
“Assessment is not about you as a teacher; it is about your students”
Correct! Assessments are made to better help the students so that teacher is able to know what subjects and categories they should go over or better touch bases on, in order to help improve the students learning ability or way of understanding, so that they are able to grasp the knowledge needed.
Defending Our Assessment Practices
- Why are you participating in the assessments that you use with students?
- Can you share in explicit detail the value that you find in each assessment?
- Do you participate in assessments that you find no value in for students?
- Are you using an assessment you have no idea how to deliver, but are afraid to ask for help with?
In my Defense......
I would apply all questions because once again, assessments are not about the teacher it is to ensure that the students are getting the education needed. In teaching and assessing my students I will make sure I'm asking myself all of the questions above because the last thing I want to do is confuse my students because I don't fully understand something. Teachers are not expected to know everything but asking for help or collaborating with another teacher is always good.
