A selection committee, headed by Chase Bauer, chose four former Cascade High School students or staff members to be honored in the inaugural hall of fame class honoring "Cascade Alumni Doing Exceptional Things". The inaugural class included:

Jon Mitchell -- Mr. Mitchell was a 1963 Clayton High School graduate who taught and coached at CHS for 26 years. Coach Mitchell led his 1980 cross country team to the state finals. The Jon Mitchell Senior Academy at Cascade High School is named in his honor.

Dr. Robert Heavin -- Dr. Heavin was a 1969 Cascade High School graduate. He was a 1977 graduate from the IU school of medicine and has had a very successful family practice since that time.

Dennis Reinbold -- Mr. Reinbold was a 1979 Cascade High School graduate and has established himself as a very successful entrepreneur in Indianapolis. He is the owner of Dreyer and Reinbold BMW and Dreyer and Reinbold Racing.

Major Steven Long -- Major Long was a 1981 Cascade High School graduate. Major Long served in the United States army and was decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal, The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart and received a commendation for valor. New Family Member - Mr. Alspaugh

New to The Cascade High School this year is Mr. Shawn Alspaugh. Mr. Alspaugh brings a wealth of teaching experience, 12 years, to The Cascade High School. He has taught at South Putnam, Eminence, Sullivan, and most recently North Putnam. Mr. Alspaugh teaches algebra II, finite mathematics, and algebra II honors. He enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 kids, and is expecting baby #3. When not spending time with his family he enjoys golfing, water skiing, and playing guitar in his church. As an added bonus to The CHS, prom preview should be especially awesome this year because Mr. Alspaugh was the former swing dance club president at IU. Mr. Alspaugh stated that he has enjoyed his time at The Cascade High School because everyone is very friendly, collaborative, and everyone is invested in the success of each other. Although Mr. Alspaugh plans to be at The CHS for quite some time, he does have some interest in completing his doctorate degree and perhaps teaching at the collegiate level.

Welcome to The Cascade High School Mr. Alspaugh!

Monthly Awards

Jon Mitchell Senior Academy Corner

The Advanced Placement Government senior students have been working on a community service project focused on giving back to those that have served our country bravely. They created a local drive, collecting toiletries and personal care items needed by the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. Over October break, the students delivered the items, toured the facility, and were able to interact with veterans. The class plans to use their experiences in creating a school wide convocation celebrating Veterans for Veterans Day.

CHS Guidance Talk

2017 App Day

On September 28th Cascade High School held the 6th annual College and Career App Day. The App Day was an initiative started by Learn More Indiana and the Department of Education. There were over 30 different opportunities for seniors to explore after graduation. There were four and two year colleges, proprietary schools, trade schools, apprenticeships, armed forces and workforce jobs. Seniors were asked to write a personal statement, fill out applications, create a resume, dress up for the day and have detailed questions for the representatives of the various opportunities. The goal of the day is to have every senior talk to an institution that he/she could attend after walking across the stage in June. Cascade High School wants every senior to graduate but also have a plan after graduation.
