Sacred Heart School

Week of Dec. 8th

Christmas Challenge

This morning, I was at Breakfast with Santa. The basement of the Church was filled with children running around (at one point, they were chasing a mouse - ew!), loud music, families, and lots and lots of food. I attended a total of 4 masses, inviting folks come down to our breakfast and spoke in Spanish at three of them. I was feeling overwhelmed, embarrassed by my lack of Spanish, and pretty flustered by the chaos of the morning. I was reminded how Christmas events, which are supposed to bring joy and happiness, can actually bring more stress if we're not careful.

The same is going to be true for these next two weeks of school. This is a time that can be filled with joy and happiness, or it is a time that can be filled with stress and anxiety. See if you can find the joy in these occasions. See if you can see the excitement in the kids eyes, or the pride they feel up on stage, or the happiness of knowing a season filled with good food, family, and gifts is almost upon us.

Enjoy the child-like excitement of the next weeks! And if it gets to be more stress than joy, just think about the fact that a break is right around the corner :)

Reading is Cool

A huge thank you to the teachers who continue to challenge their students, despite the many interruptions and events going on.
