Growing Leaders! January 10, 2021
What's Happening in the Furr Fold!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR FURR FAMILIES!!!!!
It has been WONDERFUL to see all of our students again! Their smiles, their laughter, their thoughts, their voices, ...their presence!! Our school is complete when all of our staff , students and parents return to school, healthy and safe. I hope our students enjoyed their time away but now it's time to look forward, a time to make plans for this year, a time to get back into the swing of ...school. This part of the school year is when students make the largest growth in their learning. It's an exciting time and the most challenging time in the school year, for our students!!
Our morning car lines are running very smoothly in the morning. Due to the spike in the transmission of Covid-19, I have asked my staff not to open the morning car doors so that we protect our kids, our families and our staff. Limited contact with surfaces will help prevent the spread of the virus. Thank you for your help with this!
GET READY! This month we have College & Career Week! Below you will find more information on the dates and dress-up days for this event!
Furr Elementary is a Title 1 Campus. If you would like to know more about Title 1 and this process, please look below for more information. There will be an virtual open forum for parents to ask questions.
Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 18th. Our district and Furr Elementary will be closed on this date and school will resume the following day.
Parents, please remember to answer the 4 Health screener questions daily. If you answer yes to any of the questions, please submit the screener and wait for our Nurse to get in touch with you. The safety and health of all of our students and staff is vital to the success of educating our children.
Once again, thank you parents for your patience and grace. Please know that we are in this together as we educate our kids! Thank you for entrusting us with your children so that we can make the world a better place. It starts with us...BE KIND!
Respectfully,
Cindy Zukowski
Principal, Furr Elementary

HEALTH SCREENER.....Please look at this Daily!
Every morning before you send your child to school, please look over the Health Screener to make your decision of whether or not my child should come to school today. WE thank you for taking the time to answer these questions on a daily basis and...keeping our school community safe!
FACE COVERINGS:
FACE COVERINGS @FURRELEMENTARY
Face coverings are required for all adults, 4th graders and 5th graders at Furr Elementary. We highly encourage ALL students, Pre-K to 5th grade, to wear a mask. All masks, brought from home, need to follow the PISD dress code requirements. Parents, please pack a mask in your child's backpack where it is readily accessible in case your child needs one. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Here at Furr Elementary, we will continue to follow and implement all guidelines set forth by our governor, local authorities and our district. We continue to enforce face coverings, washing hands, using hand sanitizer and social distancing on a continual basis. Please check our district website, Covid Dashboard, for any and all updates from our district.
STAAR TESTING:
PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
PICKING UP YOUR CHILD DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
Parents that need to pick up their child from school during the school day should remain in their car and call the front desk @ 469-219-2280. School staff will then escort the child out to the car and verify identification before releasing the child.
Tardies:
LABELING ALL ITEMS:
LABELING ALL ITEMS: Parents, PLEASE label all items that are sent to school with your child's last name on it. I would rather return an item, back to our students, than for any item never to be reclaimed again. Your help with this would be appreciated.
BAD WEATHER:
Rainy Day Procedures:
Rainy Day Procedures For Furr Elementary:
1. If there is heavy rain and/or lightning at the time of dismissal, ALL walking students (including 2nd-5th graders) will be held in the students classroom until a parent picks up their student from the Gym Doors. This means you can still pick up like normal with your umbrella if you would like! At the time of the rain/lightning ending, we will allow 2nd-5th graders to walk home without supervision as they usually do. Any Kinder/1st grade students(unaccompanied) still in the building when the rain ends will be brought to the front office for a parent to pick up.
2. If a parent calls during rain at dismissal, we WILL take a transportation change (even after 1:30PM).
3. Walkers will NOT automatically be car riders. This will only happen if a transportation change comes in. If you want to be sure your child is picked up in a car, please call the office at 469-219-2280.
4. Parents, please make sure you have your transportation tag (family #). We will not release any student to an adult, without your transportation tag(family#) and an ID.
Remember, we will not let your student walk home alone in heavy rain/lightening. The safeguard is in place that if we don’t get a transportation change, the student can still be picked up from the Gym Doors by walking up with your transportation tag (family #).
Thank you for your help.
MORNING ARRIVAL:
MORNING ARRIVAL: DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD: We have 2 areas designed for dropping off your student safely, the front (A-L) car line and the back (M-Z) car line. Please DO NOT drop your child off at the bike racks. This is not a drop off zone. Thank you for your help in this area.
