WSD Inclement Weather/School Closing Information
Dear Families,
Timely communication with our District families is always a priority, but especially important in emergency school closing situations. If WSD schools are forced to close due to inclement weather or other factors (i.e. power outages, water main breaks) parents/guardians and students will be notified in the following ways.
District Phone Call/Text/Email/Push Notification
The Wentzville School District utilizes Blackboard, a telephone broadcast system that allows school administrators to notify all households by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal or school cancellation. The service may also be used occasionally by individual schools to communicate general announcements or reminders. Please be sure to notify the school office about any change in your personal contact information! Also be sure to download the WSD app (for Android and Apple) and enable notifications for your child’s school. Remember, notifications can always be customized by parent (for example, you don’t want to receive the calls, only texts and emails) by contacting the Community Relations Department at 636/327-3800, ext. 20357 or your child’s school office.
TV/Radio
When inclement weather causes the District to cancel school or dismiss classes early, please check the following television and radio stations for school closing information.
KTVI - TV Channel 2 KMOX Radio 1120 AM
KMOV - TV Channel 4 KWRE Radio 730 AM
KSDK - TV Channel 5 KFAV Radio 99.9 FM
These TV and radio stations also have web sites with the same school closing information. Look for the Wentzville School District. Please be advised that individual schools will not be listed separately, closings will always be listed as the Wentzville School District.
Website
The District website will be updated with any emergency school closing information. Please check on the homepage.
Facebook and Twitter
The WSD has its own Facebook page (Wentzville School District) be sure to “like” us! It's a great way to keep up to date with the latest happenings in the District, complete with pictures. You can also follow the District on Twitter, just search for WSDinfo. Both social media sites will be used not only to keep community members informed about the latest news in the District, but in the event of a school closing or emergency, this will be yet another means of communicating quickly and efficiently.
Best,
Mr. Duckworth

Corgi Care Packages Staff Appreciation & Recognition Initiative
Hello Everyone!!!
Corgi Care Packages is a program to acknowledge our staff at Crossroads Elementary for the amazing work they do with our children. Nominations are read over the announcements throughout the school year and each nominated teacher receives a certificate of recognition. One nomination will be randomly selected each month by the principal as the Corgi Care Package recipient for the month. That teacher will receive a Care Package full of various goodies that teachers love!
Who should be nominated for a Corgi Care Package?
A teacher or other staff member at Crossroads that you have observed doing good work at our school.
A teacher or other staff member who has formed a special bond with your child that has contributed to your child’s success at Crossroads.
A teacher or other staff member that has treated your child with respect and consideration.
A teacher or other staff member that has elevated your child’s academic success.
How would I nominate a staff member for a Corgi Care Package?
You can fill out the nomination form on the Crossroads website
http://wentzville.k12.mo.us/course/view.php?id=12
You can also fill out the nomination form by following this link, which will be featured in the Corgi Tales newsletter each month.

Kindergarten Registration
2017-2018 Kindergarten Registration
Dates have been set for the Wentzville School District’s registration/screening process. This event is for all children who will turn five before August 1, 2017. If your child has not been screened at the Parents as Teachers office or his/her preschool this year, appointments are required and can be made by contacting the Parents as Teachers office at 327-3863, ext. 22281. Screening appointments are filled on a first come, first served basis. While every effort will be made to accommodate you at your child’s school, it is a possibility that you may have to have a screening at another elementary school in the district. With the new schools and the new elementary boundaries for the 2017-18 school year, your child’s completed records will ultimately be transferred to the school your child is slated to attend.
Registration/Screening dates are as follows:
Boone Trail, Tuesday, January 31, 2017
Crossroads, Monday, February 13, 2017
Discovery Ridge, Tuesday, February 7, 2017
Duello, Thursday, February 9, 2017
Green Tree, Thursday, February 16, 2017
Heritage, Tuesday, January 24, 2017
Lakeview, Thursday, February 2, 2017
Peine Ridge, Thursday, January 26, 2017
Prairie View, Thursday, February 23, 2017
The day of the screening/registration parents should bring:
The child to be screened;
Two proofs of residency:
Signed Lease Agreement (verify dates are valid), Closing Document for new home purchase (settlement statement), or most recent Real Estate Property Tax Statement; and
Current utility bill, cable bill, official mail from federal or state agency, or most recent personal property tax paid receipt;
Child’s most current immunization records (doctor’s records, doctor verified form, etc.);
Official copy of child’s birth certificate (requested but not required);
Parent’s driver’s license or photo identification (requested but not required);
Parenting plan or custody agreement (if applicable);
Documentation regarding legal guardianship (must be court ordered guardianship or limited guardianship, not power of attorney) or foster care placement (required if applicable).
If you do not have a Missouri birth certificate, you may obtain one at a cost of $15 from the St. Charles County Community Health/Environment-Vital Statistics Office, 1650 Boone’s Lick, St. Charles, MO 63301-2245, or by calling (636) 949-7400 for more information.
You may also visit them on the web at http://www.sccmo.org >Residents > Administration & Records > Vital Records > Obtain a Birth Certificate > How to Obtain Records > Application Process
