FSC Principal's Update

April 1, 2022

Finneytown Families,

We are fortunate to have wonderful staff members who are dedicated to helping our students and community. Has a teacher or staff member gone above and beyond to help you or your student? If you would like to give a special shoutout to someone who has made a difference, please click on the button below in the newsletter to share your thoughts.

Thanks for another successful week of testing. Students are really working hard. Remember that next week is only US History and Government (including AP). That means all middle school students and high school students without those classes report at 10:00 on Wednesday.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out.

Staff Spotlight (Mark Hafner)

Growing up in the wonderful town of Ross, Ohio, I then took my talents to Butler University for a two-year stint on the football team there. Coming back to the Miami University to complete my Bachelor's degree. I began my career at Northwest High School for 13 years. I was moved to the middle school, putting in my time for 3 years. I wised up and made my way over here to Finneytown a district I also live in. This year's Senior class was 7th graders when I started. I have a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing wife with one awesome 10-year-old. I truly enjoy most sports watching and coaching. Learning how to be the best Dance Dad in the game. If I am not watching a sporting event, I enjoy binging shows with the family. Pretty simple guy. Go Wildcats!!

Summer Learning (ELO)

Mark your calendar! Finneytown’s summer Extended Learning Opportunity will be Monday, August 15th through Friday, August 19th. All students currently enrolled in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade are invited to attend. It will take place from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. each day at Brent Elementary. More details and the opportunity to sign your child/children up will follow soon!

Message from PTA

Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered at the elementary carnival on Saturday! The carnival was an enormous success, and we couldn’t do it without your help. It truly takes a community to make things like this come together. Special thanks to everyone who was flexible enough to switch jobs, take on extra responsibilities, or step in at the last minute. I also heard lots of compliments about the teenagers who worked, particularly those who helped with set-up and concessions. You are all amazing, and we’re so grateful you’re a part of Finneytown! #morethanaschool

Finneytown had six middle school wrestlers qualify for the junior high state wrestling meet this past weekend. Alyssa Bolt, My'shawna Tinsley, Dominick Schoff, and CJ Summers all wrestled well against tough competition. Brady Voz wrestled to a 5th place finish and James Paudel wrestled to a 4th place finish at the state meet. At the girls state meet, My'shawna Tinsley wrestled to a 4th place finish. This is an awesome accomplishment for our young wrestlers who have worked hard in and out of the wrestling room all year. We look forward to greater successes in the future as we continue to build our program.
