Soccer Equipment Donations
The Valley High School boys’ soccer team would like to collect new or gently-used soccer equipment. Equipment will be collected and redistributed to help WDMCS students play the game.
Details:
- They accept jerseys, shorts, shin guards, goalie jerseys, goalie pants/shorts, goalie gloves, socks, cleats, soccer balls, and bags.
- Balls do not have to be deflated.
- Cleats, socks, shin guards, and goalie gloves are only accepted in pairs.
Place donations in a plastic bag(s) and drop off at Valley High School's Athletics and Activities Office.
Jordan Creek Earns Prestigious Certification
Jordan Creek Elementary has earned the Lighthouse School certification from FranklinCovey, joining just 11 other Lighthouse schools in Iowa and 519 worldwide.
Earning Lighthouse certification is a significant benchmark for Leader in Me schools and serves as “evidence that schools have produced outstanding results in school and student outcomes, by implementing the process with fidelity and excellence.”
Annual Sixth-Grade Volleyball Tournament
All eight elementary schools participated in the annual Sixth-Grade Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at Coldiron Fieldhouse at Valley High School. Western Hills won the girls' title, Fairmeadows won the boys' title, Clive Learning Academy captured the girls' sportsmanship award, and both Clive Learning Academy and Crestview School of Inquiry tied for the boys' sportsmanship award.

Seal of Biliteracy Opportunity
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, WDMCS students in grades 10-12 will have an opportunity to demonstrate proficiency in a world language to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. This award recognizes students who attain proficiency in two or more languages, one of which is English, by high school graduation.
Valley Students Create Custom Monster Friends for Kindergarten Class
Students from Valley High School's Family, Consumer, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter gifted Western Hills Elementary kindergartners their very own monsters, based on designs the kindergartners had customized.
Virtual Backpack Community Opportunities
Winter Hike

Join the Naturalist for a hike in the winter wonderland looking for animal signs. Dress for the weather.
Self-Protection Seminar for Children
Date: Dec. 16—6 p.m.
Location: Clive Special Events Building, Clive Aquatic Center, 1801 NW 114th St., Clive
Cost: $20
Organization: Clive Parks and Recreation
Children will be taught the ABCs of self-defense protection. They will explore their own thoughts on safety through role play and age-appropriate discussions. Participants will be actively engaged while learning how to escape from grabs, pushes, chokes, and the ground.

The second Friday of each month from 5-8 p.m., explore SCI with your family. Admission is just $5 per person! No need to grab dinner first ... our Food Chain Cafe is open until 7:30 p.m.
All-Inclusive Park Playground Announcement
The Waukee Betterment Foundation will hold a public event to reveal the design of the “EPIC” all-inclusive playground planned for Dallas County. The playground is part of the new park being built northwest of Waukee, near the new high school, but is designed for use by the entire county. It will include a Miracle League field, ADA-compliant fishing pier, and an all-inclusive playground.
