Conway Catch-Up
Week of March 23
Goooooood Morning #OneFamily!
Wow have things change since my last newsletter two weeks ago! Unprecedented times for sure. I am so very hopeful that you and your family are okay and are surviving the hardships that have been placed upon millions of people around our nation and world. I recognize that there are very few things that have not been impacted by this virus to include life, finances, jobs, relationships, and the ability to commune with others. This will leave a mark on all of us that our children's children will most likely read about in their history books.
I have left you alone for Spring Break, but starting today, we will begin to ramp things back up again. We have some major meetings with my superiors and then with our teachers and leadership teams today. This week, we will further develop our outreach efforts and our distance learning opportunities and we will be sending them home beginning next week. I also anticipate sending out challenges to kiddos and other fun engaging tasks to families beginning this week.
All of that will be detailed in my next newsletter later this week. In addition, you can expect people to be reaching out to check on your family and to determine any needs that you may have this week as well.
I will be providing a weekly video conference for kiddos and families starting next week, will be sending out videos frequently via youtube, email, Facebook, and Twitter. In addition, I will also be available via email 24/7 and can Facetime / Google Meet at most times. Our teacher's availability will also be detailed in the next newsletter and the forums we will be using to engage our kiddos and get them together with their classmates virtually.
Much more to come. For now, the immediate information below is to get much needed resources to families. Please, if you know of anyone in your family or in your neighborhood that could benefit from these, share this information with them. While we will be making personal contact with every family, it may take us a few extra days.
Please tell our kiddos that we are sending our love and that we miss them. Also remind them that they are #conwayleaders and they should follow the same rules and expectations as they do when they are in school. They are rockstars and we believe in them! Hang in there moms, dads, and loved ones of our kiddos. We believe in you too! :)
Miss you all!
JR :)

HELP that families may need at this time:
Need Help? We know these unprecedented times are going to create hardships that none of could have predicted nor could fathom. Conway and SCPS is at the ready to support you during these times. For an immediate list of resources, click
https://findhelp.org/. Please share this with anyone you can.- Micah Ministries: Micah offers many different resources for families - housing, furniture, and food. They offer breakfast and dinner every day of the week at a different church downtown Fredericksburg as well as offer food pantries all around downtown. Click here for a schedule for these resources.
Food Pick-Up: With school being out and times being very very difficult for many families, SCPS is providing food to families beginning today. They will have grab and go stations for breakfast and lunch at the following schools from 11:00 - 1:00:
Kate Waller Barrett Elementary located at 150 Duffey Drive in Stafford;
Falmouth Elementary located at 1000 Forbes Street in Falmouth;
Rocky Run Elementary located at 95 Reservoir Road in Fredericksburg; and
North Star Early Childhood Education Center located at 101 Shepherds Way
These locations are determined by the State of VA, which is why Conway is not one of them. (I wanted to be).
Grab and Go Neighborhood drop off sites are also listed on the division website at https://www.staffordschools.net/Page/29205.
- Free Internet: A few companies are offering free internet to families that are in need. You can find these resources at these two links below. Please share this with anyone that you feel may need this.
- Resources Hub for Coronavirus: Click Here for a HUB that a principal friend of mine found that has all kinds of resources for parents and teachers to access to include how to talk to kids about this, tutorials, CDC information, and much more.
