A Message from the Principal
Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,
Many of our Middle School students campaigned for Student Council last week by making creative posters and delivering well thought out speeches to their classmates – well done, MS Hornets! Below are pictures of all of the candidates and their posters. The newly elected 8th grade Student Council representatives are Annie Fatima, Aidan Souder, Alicia Luna, and Tyler Phillips. The 7th grade representatives are Adriana Gray, Chloe McLain, and Carter Smith. The 6th grade representatives are Alexa Gottlieb, David Granado, Rose Morton, and Jude Pierce. Congratulations!

Every morning next week our 1st through 8th grade students will be taking the Iowa Assessment (IA). The IA is a nationally standardized test that provides HFCS with benchmarks for our individual student’s academic progress each year. These benchmarks provide me and the teachers with information that will help us support student learning.
The best way to help your child prepare for the test is to make sure that he or she has gotten a good night’s sleep! The IA is not something that a student can prepare for ahead of time, therefore, no study time is necessary.
A few things to remember about IA testing week:
It is important that all of our students are in attendance next week to take the IA.
No homework will be assigned next week.
Please pack extra, and healthy, snacks with your child’s lunch for snack breaks between tests.
The week of September 23rd brings us our annual Book Fair and Grandparent's Day! We can’t wait to see the Grandparents here on Thursday, September 26.

Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner on September 27! There is no school that day and no Extended Care. Students are required to attend the meetings in unform with their parents or guardians.
Teachers will be utilizing SignUp Genius to help you schedule conference times easily; your child’s teacher will activate her SignUp Genius by next Wednesday, September 18th.

Pot O’ Gold is looking for a co-chair, and other volunteers, to help Maria Orand plan our 2020 event! Please reach out to Maria Orand or Lisa Griffith to learn more about this special evening and what you can do, big or small, to help make this year’s Pot O’ Gold a night to remember!
God bless,
Ann Walters
