Electrical Student Wins IAEA Award

Congratulations to Matthew Patrone, senior in the East Providence CTC Electrical Technology Program, who was presented the Roger Williams Chapter (RWC) of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) Tool Kit Award for the 2022 -2023 school year. This award is given to a candidate who has exhibited a will to learn and demonstrated a work ethic that is consistent with the values of the Electrical Trade. An individual who has shown that they hold the perseverance to make it through their apprentice years and into the Electrical Trade full time as licensed electricians. Matthew was nominated by his program instructor, Mr. Tom Heatherton.

Matt has been in the program for four years and has shown a drive and work ethic to succeed as an Electrician in the field. Matt is always working to improve his knowledge and excels in the electrical lab where he demonstrates leadership skills and assists classmates in projects and troubleshooting.

Matt was presented this award and a Klein 92003 – 12-piece tool kit at the IAEA General Membership Meeting on April 19, at the Ramada Inn in Seekonk.

Townie Chefs Win First Prize in Cooking Competition!!!

The Rhode Island High School Seafood Cook-off took place on Thursday 4/27, at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center's Tides Restaurant. Six high school student teams competed to see who has the best preparation for summer flounder.

An audience of over 50 invited guests sampled the seafood dishes and voted for their favorites based on criteria such as flavor and presentation. First prize was awarded to our Townie Culinary Team of Teagan Abatiello, Katelyn Bolarinho, Aaliyah Caetano, and Martim Moniz.

As the winning team they will be treated to lunch at Hemenways in Providence and have their recipe featured as a special there. These amazing chefs prepared a winning dish of lemon steamed summer flounder with a brussel sprout and apple slaw, sweet potato purée, blistered tomatoes, and aji Amarillo sauce.
