October Life skill for the month- “FRIENDSHIP”
Friendship is to make and keep a friend through mutual trust and caring.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Students will be encouraged to participate in Unity Day on October 23, 2019 by wearing ORANGE to show the visual impact of communities united to end bullying behaviors.
During the month of October please talk to your children about ways to make and keep friends by recognizing the qualities of a friend and practice communication skills that improve peer interactions. It is also important for children to learn the value of treating people respectfully regardless of appearance, race, national origin, disability, social status, etc. Teaching children to be mindful of the feelings of others, and how to recognize, refuse, and report unfriendly behavior will help them to be a good friend. Please help your child learn to recognize signs of unfriendly behavior.
Signs of Unfriendly Behavior
-Gossiping
-Spreading rumors
-Bossiness
-Stealing
-Embarrassing others
-Frightening others
If your child reports any of these behaviors to you, please encourage them to speak with their teacher, myself, or administration. KES has a no bulling policy.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for your child this year.
