The 25th Amendment
Jeremy Price
The 25th amendment
If something were to happen to the President, we would need a back up plan, right? The 25th thoroughly explains who takes over if something happens to him as well as a back up plan for the back up plan and so on. Ultimately, Congress decides who becomes President, but they have it all sorted out. The Vice President would obviously be next in line, but there are many more in line after him... There are 18 that are lined up but these are only the first few.
President of the United States Barack Obama
Vice President
Lets take Barack Obama's his cabinet for example. He appointed John Biden as his Vice President but he did not necessarily appoint the others in line
---Next in line---
Speaker of the House
John Boehner (R)
President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Orrin Hatch (R)
Secretary of State
John Kerry (D)
