Bring a sack lunch and drink on Wednesday, May 25
Field Trip on Wednesday, May 25th to Morton Arboretum
On Wednesday, we will be visiting the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. It will be a full day of walking, exploring, and learning about insects and nature. Please apply bug spray to your child before they come to school as we will be outside and walking through fields and forest areas. It is also recommended that everyone wear long pants NOT shorts for this field trip. We will be asking the children to bring a sack lunch and disposable water bottle or juice box as we do not want to have to carry extra "stuff" throughout the children's garden. Please check your child's folder for more information about the trip.
On Thursday, May 26th we invite family members to attend our Publishing Party in the classroom to present our original stories. This event will be about 45 minutes starting at 9:00 am. Each student will read their story and share their illustrations. We are very proud of our hard work and appreciate an authentic audience to watch us.
End of the Year Party
On June 1, the first grade classes will be gathering together to have an afternoon of fun! We will start at 11:30 with a picnic and followed by games and activities that our room parents are planning for us. We encourage you to apply sunscreen to your child that morning as we will be outside for a few hours. Students are also allowed to bring a beach towel that they can sit on for our picnic. We are asking the children to bring a sack lunch that day. We have sent home a "red" letter asking if any students will need a lunch provided by the school. Thanks to our room parents for their time and effort putting together this party.
No School on Monday, May 30: Memorial Day
Last Day of school will be Friday, June 3. (it is a full day of attendance, Dismissal at 2:55)
