A Message from Principal Neff

Dear Eagle Students, Parents and Staff,

From our Eagle Family to yours, have a great holiday week! I am thankful for how our amazing students, parents and staff have hung in there during these trying times.

In the upcoming weeks, after we return from the holiday break, please watch for many informational emails we will be sending out regarding our return to campus next semester. Our team has been busy devising plans to ensure the safety of our students and staff upon our return.

We all have so much to be thankful for! May you enjoy the warmth of family this season and the harvest of the feast! Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Mr. Neff

Update: Reopening status for secondary schools

Dear Lucia Mar Staff and Families,

On Monday, November 16, San Luis Obispo County moved into the Purple Tier 1(widespread) which is the most restrictive of the four in the State Blueprint for a Safer Economy (https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/). In this tier, schools in San Luis Obispo County are not allowed to reopen for modified in-person instruction if the school has not already reopened.

At its regularly scheduled meeting last night, the Board of Education considered the options for reopening and heard from parents, students and the community. Following discussion and deliberation, the board voted to delay the opening of our elementary schools until we are able to do so safely under the state guidelines. That means, San Luis Obispo County will need to be in the Red Tier 2 (substantial) for two weeks before schools can open.

Secondary schools will open once San Luis Obispo County is in the Red Tier (substantial) for two weeks before schools can open. Secondary sites will send out additional information to parents and students about their second semester schedules prior to returning on Jan. 11th.

This school year continues with its challenges and difficult decisions for our families and for all of us in education. By working together, we can continue to focus on our students and be able to also offer hybrid in-person learning, when authorized by the County Department of Health.

Lucia Mar is dedicated to the safe reopening of our schools and we are committed to the health of our students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Senior Recognition - Formerly Known as Senior Baby Pics

Parents, a great way to celebrate your senior is to purchase an ad in the yearbook for all to see. You get to design it with your own pictures and text, using Jostens software.

AGHS Athletics Status 11/20/20

AGHS Athletics Families,

Still no official news from the state regarding competition guidelines or CIF regarding our sports calendar. It is encouraging to know that the governor has signed off on the guidance, however the release date is still unknown. It sounds like they may be getting closer to releasing some information and we hope to have something concrete to share with everybody as soon as possible.

I hope that you all have a happy Thanksgiving and even in a year as challenging as 2020 that we can all find people, things, and situations to be grateful for.

Thank you!

Stephen Field
AGHS Athletic Director
