Thank You!
Last week was quite a busy week with the water shut-off day, STAR testing, play tryouts, and chess club. Thank you for all of your patience, particularly with the parking, pick-up, drop off, and water shut off.
The students have been wonderfully flexible, the water shut-off was unavoidable (that's the day the Village of Tijeras issued the entire area to be shut off for our construction project, so it wasn't negotiable), and the parents volunteers have made drop-off so much better for families, parishioners, and teachers. Thank you all!
A special thanks goes out to the parents and other goodhearted souls who donated new playground supplies. See the pictures at the bottom of this Monday Memo for visuals of the balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops in action!
St. Vincent de Paul Youth Club
Last week a little packet of three papers went home with students in grades 4th-8th. Included was Mr. Coburn's Welcome Letter, the green form to be filled out by parents (includes info on t-shirt size), and a list of the meeting dates.
- The meetings occur during lunch, so students bring their lunch and eat during the meeting.
Note: A hearty thanks to Mrs. Hammack for collating all of the needed info to be sent home. It is very much appreciated!
School Play Try-Outs: A Charlie Brown Christmas (K-3)
- Monday, August 26th: 3:30-4:30 for those whose last names start with N-Z
Today is the last day to try out! If you missed your chance last week and your last name begins to A-M, talk to Mrs. Teeters so you can squeeze into today's tryouts.
Remember, trying out doesn't necessarily mean you'll be selected. It is, however, a great experience! We're excited to see this cast take shape!
Renaissance STAR Testing: Tuesday & Wednesday
We completed our STAR testing last week and results will be going home shortly. Keep an eye on backpacks and folders since the results go home on printed pieces of paper (one for Math, one for Reading).
Once these results arrive home, you may wonder what some of the abbreviations on the report mean (i.e. NCE, SS, or PR). Here are the STAR Math definitions and STAR Reading definitions for your reference.
Back to School Night
Come to hear more about what your child is learning, see his/her classroom, and hobnob with teachers and fellow parents!

Student Handbook
- Student Handbook for 2019-2020, Revised
- The pink acceptance sheets (passed out at Orientation) are due by August 29th: Back to School Night! Please return to the school office or to your homeroom teacher.
Fundraising
Two Fundraising Projects
- Here is the sign-up genius link if you're able to help. Thank you!
2. Blue raffle tickets: Each student has been given a blue raffle ticket for Baseball with the Bishop to sell for $5. Please return the ticket stub along with the $5 to your homeroom teacher. These are due by September 10th.
- If we're lucky, maybe one of us will win again! The Stotts family won two years ago. You get to sit in a cool box (with food!) at an Isotopes game with Archbishop Wester!
Volunteering
Volunteer Hour Tracking Form
P.S. Our hats go off to Mrs. Sena for the lovely form she used last year for volunteer hours. It was used as the jumping point for this year's form.
Chess Club Parent Volunteers
If you know how to play chess and you enjoy it, this is a great opportunity to mentor younger players while earning volunteer hours!
When: Fridays after school
Where: In the cafeteria/parish hall
Why: For the love of chess! (and for volunteer hours)
What to do if interested: Contact Mrs. Stern and/or Mrs. Martinez
Washing Lunch Dish Cloths
As you can imagine, these can get a little ... gross. If you're able to take them home, give them a good washing, and return them to school, your help (and volunteer hours) would be much appreciated! Let Mrs. Stern know if you're up for it!
Morning Parking Aides
While this isn't officially through the school, you can still count the time you spend helping for volunteer hours.
Thank you to those noble parents who have helped make this tricky process smoother!
