Happy Last Week of School!

Parents and Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful school year! It has been an absolute pleasure working with you and your child. Watching the students grow as learners is the best part of our profession!

Enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Roush & Mrs. Brueggen

Announcements/Reminders:

This Week:

Wednesday - Our class will be walking to Dairy Way in the afternoon. Please send along money for your child to purchase a treat. $5.00 will be plenty!

Thursday - Students who have not lost all of their "punches" on their Respect and Responsibility cards will be going to the Lunda Waterpark.

Friday - The last day of school. We will be having an assembly, a 5th grade talent show, and outdoor activities. Please remember that this is a full school day, not an early release.

Reader's Workshop

We will be working hard this week to attempt to finish reading and discussing our Book Club books. One group is reading The Tale of Despereaux. The other group is reading The Orphan of Ellis Island. Both groups are really enjoying the books and are having great discussions.

Writer's Workshop

Writer's Workshop this week will consist of free-writing. This means the students may begin new pieces or may continue working on previously started pieces.

Word Study

We will not be studying a Word Study principle this week.

We will continue our study of the poem "Words as Free As Confetti" by Pat Mora.

Math

The rest of the year will be spent working at each student's individual pace to review skills that we have been working on this school year. Skills will included dividing fractions, dividing decimals, multiplying fractions, multiplying decimals, finding area and perimeter of complex figures, and many other skills. This will be a time for each student to practice what he/she needs!
