Now that everyone has started their classes, we'd hope they check out this newsletter to learn more about how the library can serve you in the first part of the trimester.
As always, we share the hours we'll be open. We're doing a pilot to see how having later hours on a Saturday during midterms works. There are also upcoming library workshops to help you optimize your learning experience. On Monday, June 4th, learn how to organize and incorporate citations the easy way with Mendeley. On June 6th, if you've never had a library presentation while here, stop by to learn the basics which could save you time and money. Finally, for those who have had a little training, come explore how to understand and use databases better on June 12th in our Advanced Searching workshop.
Monica Howell will be giving her award winning presentation on Women Chiropractors and African-American Chiropractors in MN at the Founder's Day event. She also has put out a new Nutrition & Diet display from the archives.
Dogs will visit us once again on June 20th in the foyer.
Finally, we have new tools for you. The standing desktops from student senate are now available in the library. We are also still checking out laptops to use for exams. And we're running a trial of the Trip Pro database. The Trip database does a lot of cool things, including reporting on guidelines, systematic reviews and ongoing studies. Let us know if you like it.

Better Studying
Stand Up Desktops
The stand up desktops ordered by Student Senate are now available for checkout in the library. There is one on display on the information desk if you'd like to see what they look like.
Liability: By checking out and using the desktops, you are responsible for the safety of any items you put on it if the desktop malfunctions. It won't but if it does... catch!
Laptops
You MUST have an ID (Student ID or Driver's License) in order to check them out.
Diet and Nutrition Display
Greenawalt Library has a number of books, magazines, pamphlets, and other materials covering nutrition, diet, and food therapy. This tri's library and archives display shows just a few examples of these materials. Some you might find useful, while others are interesting in that they document outdated health fads or quirky philosophies. For example, one book claims, "overuse of cow's milk deteriorates the human brain to the level of a cow's" (!). Also featured is a book on nutrition and health by associate provost and ACM faculty member Dr. Pat Casello-Maddox. Check the catalog or talk to a librarian to learn more about our materials, or to check out any of the items in the display case.

Trip Database
The Trip database has been available for free for years. It is expanding now to include images, videos and expanded literature. It is also increasing its indexing of guidelines as the National Guidelines Clearing House shuts down.
Check it out and let us know what you think!
