Heritage Week Service Project
For our Heritage Week service project this year we will be collecting hats, scarves, gloves, socks, and toiletries for distribution in our local community. Items will be donated through 1A classes from November 5 through November 30. The class with the most donations will win breakfast on 12/4!
Boxes were delivered to most classrooms on Friday afternoon. If you have a 1A class and do not have a box, please let Katie Bennett know.
I Make a Difference
From Jennifer Renne
It is an honor to pass this weeks “I make a difference award” to Dana Zumbrum. Dana has the most positive attitude and energy that makes any interaction with her great. She is always developing new and innovative art projects. You can find her working with her students during One Lunch or after school (and sometimes before school) on students class and personal projects. She is so supportive of their creativity! I am always amazed at the work the students produce when you walk by her room. After observing her interactions with her students, she truly “knows” them and has formed some great student/teacher relationships so it is no surprise that her students all respect her and have meaningful learning experiences in her class. Thank you for inspiring me every day on multiple levels! I am privileged to work with you!

Announcements & Reminders
Grades Due Tuesday: Grades for the first marking period are due by 1:00 on Tuesday (11/6). Remember to discuss any ‘I’ grades with the student’s administrator and be sure to include a transfer grade for any students who transferred into your class after the marking period began.
Federal Cards: 1A teachers, if you have received all of your students' federal cards completed correctly, please return your federal cards (in alphabetical order), completed E1 form, and class roster (with any discrepancies between your E1 form and the roster noted on the roster) to Julia Mitchell in the main office. If you not have not received all of your students' federal cards, continue to call parents to remind them to complete and return their student's federal card. Also continue to make copies of federal cards that are returned with missing or incomplete information, and give the copies to the students to take home. Please provide directions on a post it note for parents indicating what is missing or needs to be corrected on the federal card. Copies sent home must be re-signed and re-dated by the parent or guardian making the corrections. Attach the copy to the original federal card once it is returned. If you received a student who enrolled at LHS on or after October 30, 2018, do not give the student a federal card. Thank you for your help..
Principles of American Citizenship: Remember to nominate students for the Principles of American Citizenship award each month. You can access the nomination form here. The trait for November is RESPECT and you should return nominations electronically to Terri Muench
Kudos
Kudos and thanks to Cindy Enroughty for her hard work preparing for last week’s Advisory legacy activity. She singlehandedly prepared 2400 legacy boot, skateboard and shoe cut-outs, then counted and separated them into bags for all 100 Advisory classes and placed them in teacher mailboxes. If you have not yet returned yours to her, please do so this week and thank her for this huge undertaking.
Kudos to our DECA students for their efforts to raise money for MDA. This year's DECA King is Donovan Espiritu & DECA Queen is Briauna Rushin.
Congratulations to our boys volleyball team for their win in the region quarterfinals last Thursday. Come cheer them on tonight as they take on OL in the semis!
Kudos to Wendy Zumbrum who stepped in to sub in our robotics classes. She is going above & beyond for these students.
Congratulations to our Marching Band. They received a Superior rating at the VBODA District Marching Band Assessment last weekend.
Kudos to Alicia Herbert and Kristin Marriner. Alicia had 4 parent teacher conferences scheduled on Wednesday so she did 2 and Kristin did 2. Great colleague/inclusion teamwork!
Kudos to Kathy Holbert & Keith Leonard. The parent of a 2018 graduate sent an email this week to say that her son, "feels really prepared for his physics and calculus class" thanks to the work done in Kathy & Keith's classes here at LHS.
