Director Newsletter
New Years Edition - January 1, 2015
Happy New Year!
Dearest Directors,
Can you believe we are now in 2015? May this coming year be a time when your faith in our Lord grows stronger, your love for your family grows deeper, and your fellowship with friends be sweeter!
This new year ushers in new hope, new resolutions, and new beginnings. Picture it, we have a new chapter before us full of empty pages, ready to be filled with wonderful adventures and testimonies. I cannot wait to see what He has in store for each of us, our families, and our programs.
As we embark a new year, there are a few important pieces of information I would like to reiterate and share. Please read thoroughly.
SM Leadership
We have a few new SMs that will be joining our Central Texas leadership team in January. Many of you are already aware of these new and exciting changes. We will formally welcome our new Texas SMs via CC e-blast and “Get to Know Your New SM” meetings in late January. Please pray for these ladies whom the Lord has called.
Outreach Season
January 1st marks day one of our outreach season. As you know, outreach is the heart of what we do. This is how we reach people who do not know about our programs. We need everyone to be involved hosting Information Meetings, promoting our Challenge programs, and showing families firsthand with Open Houses. Please take some time to decide and discern how you should sow this season.
SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK: We are once again partnering with School Choice and sharing our information meetings on their website. This is an excellent opportunity and we want to make sure we take advantage this particular week. Read more about National School Choice Week by going here.
Please send your SM or me (if you do not have an SM) a quick note to let us know when/where you’ve decided to host your outreach events. Don't forget to post it on the CC Event Calendar as well!
Tuition Increase Reminder
There is a minimal tuition increase for all levels this coming year. Please speak positively about this increase to your families as I know you all will. CC has tried to keep all of it's programs affordable for everyone. The new tuition costs will be reflected on the 2015-2016 registration forms, which are now on the CC website. Here's the breakdown on the increase.
The Foundations Guides and the Essential Guides will not be changing for next year, so this will be a savings for the families. There will be a page of corrections and edits for the Essentials Guide, but not a new version.
Director Administration Fees
Director fees will also be increasing this year. The new admin fee will be: $85 for renewing directors and $100 for new directors. Please let me know if you have any questions about these changes.
More Director Resources
CC invites you to watch this enjoyable new video about the resources available to all directors on Learning Pathways. Feel free to take a few minutes to view this short but informative presentation which shows both the beginner and experienced user of Learning Pathways how to navigate all of the support areas available for licensed Directors on the Classical Portal. It also covers the new “Digging Deeper” with Learning Modules for acquiring a licensing bonus that has now been added to “My Pathway.” Here’s the link.
CC has been working diligently this year to support directors by adding many new resources, videos, webinars, handouts, and more to assist you in your learning as the lead learner for your students. If you need more assistance in using the Learning Pathways, please let your SM know.
Parent Resources - Cultivating Classical Parents
Be sure your parents know about these resources by sending them here.
Multiplication & Mentorship
This is a gentle reminder to our communities that have over 48 students. You are big and beautiful and we love you! However CC’s vision was never to be beyond 48 students in a Foundations program. For that reason, we are asking you to be strategic.
Registration is here for returning families- do you have a plan?
We are always looking to raise up new leadership. Please look within your community and send any recommendations to your SM. Your SM will share what it takes to lead a program. If these candidates get contracted in time, this could be an opportunity for you to walk alongside them as a mentor. With this method, prayerfully, we will give birth to several new CC communities in our area. Let’s celebrate because some of us are "having babies"!
Partnering with Parents
One of the many aspects that sets CC apart from other educational institutions, is our belief that the parent is the primary teacher and we are here to support that process and share the Classical Christian model with them.
Foundations Directors, please ensure that your tutors are following the training and the direction of how CC wants the information introduced to the students on community day. Challenge Directors, please ensure that you are not allowing your parents to lean on you too heavily to "teach" their children. Encourage your parents to remain the primary educator, using the many resources that CC has provided on CC Connected, and the other countless resources that are at their disposal.
Parents need to learn along side their children and not step back at this important stage in their child's life.
Letter of Intent/ Renewal Questionnaires
Please remember to send your LOI to your SM, if you have not done so already. CC has asked all directors to submit the LOI by Dec.31st or the position would be considered “open”. Don't forget about those Renewal Questionnaires! Contracts will be out at the end of the month and sent via EchoSign.
Email Etiquette
I would like to remind you about email etiquette as set forth in your Director Business Guide under the Communication Section.
Directors copy their Team Leader on any non-routine emails to her families and community. And if a director emails any CC representative laterally, above, or from another department, the director copies the TL. This keeps your TL in the loop and also allow her to help with solutions.
Also, please remember that any communication regarding personal, inflammatory, religious, performance, or legal information is never included in an e-mail communication even if it’s a prayer request. :-)
Catalogs
Central/South TX Director Gathering
Please mark your calendars for our first ever C/S Director Summit. This meeting will encompass all of our SMs and include all 49 directors within our area. I hope to host one of these summits a semester. Please make plans to be there on February 2nd at 7:30 PM! Below are the details.
It is my absolute honor to serve you through Classical Conversations! I am beyond thankful for each and every one of you, the families you serve, and the communities you have built. May God continue to bless and prosper the work of your hands in 2015 and beyond!
Your servant in Christ,
Tressa Strickland
