Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
The first two days of the 2019-2020 school year are in the books!
Yesterday, students were greeted with noise makers, balloons, and streamers as our entire staff lined the hallways cheering for our kids as they entered. Smiles could be seen on many faces as students navigated to their first class.
Teachers were instructed to spend the first seven days of school avoiding tests/quizzes, etc. and instead spend their time truly getting to know your children. Since relationships are paramount in having a positive school experience, teachers were encouraged to discover each student's STORY (strengths, tendencies, opportunities for growth, resources, and yearnings). We challenged every adult to uncover at least one interest your child has outside of school to better connect with them. For when our teachers know your child's interests and understand their STORY, they will be much more receptive to what they have to teach them!
Our first day ended with free lemonade stands set up outside for students as they exited the building; this was refreshing close to a wonderful first day!
Striving to bring out the best in every student,
Dr. Vivadelli

New Partnership with OHIP and Rodney McLeod from the Philadelphia Eagles!
The Student Health Impact Project will join the Woodbury City Public Schools for the “Healthy Attitude School Tour” throughout the 2019-2020 school year. The tour was inspired by Super Bowl Champion and Eagles Safety Rodney McLeod to help bring awareness and vital health services to students so they can thrive and achieve. Research shows that many communities experience immense barriers to obtain medical, vision and dental care for children. However, what we don’t realize is how these barriers interrupt a child’s ability to attend school and learn. The challenge is access. Health conditions that could have easily been prevented, managed, or cured are too often left untreated until they become more serious.
On Monday, September 9th, Rodney McLeod from the Philadelphia Eagles will be presenting his health and wellness initiative to our students in grades 6-8. In addition, there will be mobile offices staffed with medical professionals to provide free vision and dental screenings.
Below you will find a consent form for the health screenings. No student will visit the medical professional for a screening without parental consent. All completed forms can be turned in to your child's homeroom teacher or our nurse Mrs. Dreger.
You can complete the consent forms in a few different ways:
Visit www.HealthyAttitude.org click "consent form at the top”
Text the word “CONSENT” to 41411
Or, print and send in the following attachments.
Feel free to reach out to Ms. Grimes should you have any questions.
We are excited to welcome Super Bowl Champion, Rodney McLeod to Woodbury for his first of five assembly programs this year in Woodbury!

Please see Mr. Jarrett to express interest.
FBI - Think Before You Post Campaign
Oregon FBI Tech Tuesday: Building a Digital Defense with #thinkbeforeyoupost
Your kids are headed back to school, and many of them are carrying a phone in their pocket when they do. That device – along with the laptops, tablets and gaming systems so many have – can become an integral part of who they are. Some students are so used to sharing every thought online that sometimes they forget that what they do in the virtual world can have real-world consequences.
Imagine a student with a grievance. Maybe she’s mad at a classmate. Maybe he didn’t study for a test and thinks that causing a disruption at the school will get him out of taking it. It can be easy to say things you don’t really mean – or post things that you don’t really intend to follow through on.
This kind of online behavior can and does happen all the time – but in the aftermath of mass casualty attacks, we often see an increase in hoax threats made to schools or other public places. The FBI takes these threats very seriously whether they come in the form of text messages, social media posts, or emails. Law enforcement – whether the FBI or our local and state partners – will respond to each threat to determine which are real and which are hoaxes.
The FBI’s #ThinkBeforeYouPost campaign is designed to help schools and parents educate students before they make a poor choice that could impact them for years to come. Please share with your kids and those in your community that making a threat is a federal crime. Those who post or send these threats can receive up to five years in federal prison, or they can face state or local charges.
In addition to the individual consequences a person may face, these threats have a serious impact on our community. They divert law enforcement resources from investigating other crimes, and they cost taxpayers a lot of money. For those targeted in a threat, the emotional distress can be severe.
So remember:
- Don’t ever post or send any hoax threats online.
- If you are the target of an online threat, call your local law enforcement immediately.
- If you see a threat of violence posted online, contact local law enforcement or your local FBI office. You can also submit information online to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov
- Don’t share or forward a threat until law enforcement has a chance to investigate – this can spread misinformation and cause panic.
Remember – a hoax threat is no joke. #ThinkBeforeYouPost.
