The Falcon Report
January 6, 2017
Welcome!
From the District Administrator's Office
Recently, the Flambeau Forever Foundation Fund awarded over $3,000 in grants to enhance the educational opportunities for our students. These grants were made possible by the generous support of our community and staff member. This was the first year of what we are looking forward to being an annual event. The fund is set up to support the areas of academics, activities, and athletics for many years to come as the annual grant awards are based on the interest earned from the principle amount. With contributions to the fund, the grant awards will continue to grow each year. Please consider making a contribution to the Flambeau Forever Foundation Fund and be a part of this wonderful program.

With the new year comes new year resolutions and as I talk with the students I have heard some great goals. I would like to share a few that I think that could benefit your child here at school and also create a special bond for your family.
- The first is to read each night, or so many minutes per week with or to your child. Sometimes you can read the book aloud to each other, and other nights read different books.
- The next was taking 5 minutes for math facts or flashcards. One student shared that they do this on car rides and the first kid that gets 10 correct chooses the radio station.
- The last idea I want to share is family game. The games can be cards, boards, or video games, and a different family member picks the game. It is a great way to spend some quality time together along with teaching problem solving skills.
The next reading night is January 16th so hope to see you there.

From the Middle/High School Principal's Office
Next week on Friday, middle school teachers will be taking sixth, seventh, and eighth graders to Skate City for a celebration of academic success. Way to go middle school students on a job well done during the first semester! We look forward to next Friday’s activities and appreciate all of your hard work so far this school year!
As we gear up and prepare for Flambeau's 10th annual cancer benefit held during the week of January 16th, I am amazed at the outpouring of support from our student body, staff, and community. Congratulations to second grader, Emily Walsh, on a fantastic t-shirt design this year! As part of this competition, all second grade and sixth grade students will be visiting Artisans on Monday to watch the production and printing of the shirt. Sixth grade students participate in this visit because they will be helping with the ordering and distribution of the shirts.
Once again, all doors in 4YK-12 will soon be decorated for our door decorating competition. If you or your business would like to sponsor one of our classroom doors, please let me know by calling 715-532-3183. In regards to sponsorships, middle school resources will also be creating lip sync videos, which will be sponsored in the same manner that doors are sponsored. Again, I welcome and appreciate any sponsorships and look forward to the creativity of our students during these upcoming events.

An Online Resource… PebbleGo
With PebbleGO students can search for information about animals, Earth, and space, and famous people (biographies). Students can read the information themselves or have the words read aloud. There are pictures, videos, and games too. If needed, the articles can be printed.
The link for PebbleGo is located on the IMC Moodle and can be accessed at school or at home, but a username and password are required. To access the IMC Moodle, visit the School District of Flambeau website (http://www.flambeau.k12.wi.us/) and click on the Students tab and then select IMC. Once you enter the Moodle, click on Websites under the Elementary box and look for PebbleGo in the list. Don’t forget to check out all of the other great websites!
