Parent Notice of Student Survey
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are writing to inform you about a student survey called the Illinois 5Essentials Survey that will be administered sometime before March 31, 2023. The Illinois State Board of Education will implement this survey across the state. This survey is based on 20 years of research at the University of Chicago. It asks students about their experiences in school, giving school leaders critical student input to help develop school improvement plans.
Students in grades 4-8 will be required to log in using their student State ID and birth date to complete the survey. Students' identities will be kept completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions and will only receive aggregated information, such as the total percentage of students who agree homework assignments help them learn the course material.
Please be aware that under the Protection of Pupil Rights Act. 20 U.S.C. Section 1232(c) (1) (A), you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your student(s). Survey questions can be found on the Illinois 5Essentials website.
If you do not want your student in Grades 4-8 to participate in the survey, we require families to electronically sign an opt-out form. Please respond by Monday, February 6.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Leave a Family Legacy in D103
Create a memorable impact in your student's life by placing their name in the D103 LFF Brick Garden outside Daniel Wright. Future, current, and past Daniel Wright students have the school paved in bricks with their family name. Please see the foundation's Google Doc folder for pictures of the brick garden and other families who have donated.
The Learning Fund Foundation has been an active supporter of our D103 school district for many years providing STEM programming, classroom audio systems, and the establishment of the Dawn Anderson Scholarship awarded to a Daniel Wright graduate. The Learning Fund Foundation is a registered 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit educational foundation and your donation is tax deductible.
