Choose Kind
Although our journeys are unique, and we all face individual challenges, genuine connection is key especially during difficult and stressful times. We need one another now more than ever. Every day we have a choice on how we show up in our communities and for ourselves. Choosing kindness is appreciating and celebrating the beauty around you and in others.
Kindness begins with practicing self-compassion. Self-compassion involves being kind to yourself, accepting your mistakes and shortcomings and showing the same understanding towards ourselves as we would a friend experiencing a tough time or setback.
There are many ways to participate in the kindness movement, including:
- Crack the Kindness Code! For the month of February, look for interactive signs with fun code cracking activities around Strathcona County. Do you have what it takes? To get started, visit: www.strathcona.ca/choosekind **On January 27th, the webpage will have specific information on Crack to Code to Kindness (there are 6 different virtual break out rooms that are engaging, interactive focused on kindness)
- Self Compassion: Re-filling your emotional cup on Feb 3 from 12 – 1 p.m.
- Cyberworld: What happens when you press send? on Feb 9 from 12 – 1 p.m
- Creating safer spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ people on Feb 22 from 12 – 1 p.m

School and Transportation Fee Waiver Applications: Deadline extended
Application for a Waiver of Fees. Because of the pandemic, the new deadline is Feb. 15, 2021—if you’re new to EIPS, the deadline is the latter of Feb. 15, 2021, or 45 days after registration.
Fees are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Returning Student Registration (2021-22 school year) from February 1-28, 2021
Families of all returning students must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2021-22 school year. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space.
FR Haythorne is an open boundary school for the upcoming school year.
Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up before Feb. 1, 2021.
