Monster Dolls Teach Skill, Leadership and Service
Seventy fear-me-not monsters are making their way to Faces of Hope thanks to the creative and caring students in Sawtooth Middle School’s family and consumer science class and Meridian High School’s FCCLA program.
FCCLA is a career and technical student organization. Students focus on a variety of youth concerns, they expand their leadership potential, and develop life skills through family and consumer sciences education.
Deadline for Transferring to Virtual School House
The deadline to submit a request for transfer into Virtual School House for the fourth quarter of this school year closes on March 5. Once the request window is closed, you will receive information about the next steps for completing the transfer process.
For seniors considering a transfer into VSH for the fourth quarter, please note you are requesting a complete transfer. This means you may graduate with students in VSH in June 2021. Additionally, your high school diploma would be from VSH.

Preparing for Secondary Return to School
March 30 middle and high school students will be back on campus for full-time in-person learning without following an alternating day schedule. The new schedule will have students learning remotely on Mondays and attending classes on campus Tuesday-Friday. In preparation for this shift, please review the Learning in 20-21 webpages and information shared below.
Since the Ada County mask mandate was lifted, we have noted more challenges with mask compliance. It is important to remember the school district requires mask wearing through the end of this school year per the pandemic operating plan.
Principals are updating Building Health and Safety Plans and custodial staff are heightening cleaning protocols when necessary. Teachers are prepping their classrooms to maximize distancing and utilizing required seating charts.
Stay Home
Spring is here and so is spring allergy season. Please be aware of the symptoms that your child may be exhibiting. Many individuals with COVID-19 report having symptoms like those of seasonal allergies and when medications do not work, they get tested and are positive, now we have a longer infectious period at school and more exposures; therefore, please keep your kids home, even when exhibiting seasonal allergies, to see if the allergy medications work and/or coordinate with your primary care provider to consider testing.
Please keep students’ home if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Tiredness
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Wear a Mask
Whenever you are with any other people who live outside of your home, wear a mask that fits over your mouth and nose.
Encourage Handwashing
Please encourage students to wash their hands or sanitize frequently in public or while at school.
