Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
SPRING BREAK - 1 week away! I want to wish you all a safe and fun break and I am looking forward to our students finishing another great school year. Also, DID YOU KNOW that next week is Hooch Staff Appreciation Week. Please consider dropping a note, card, and/or email to at least one staff member to thank them for all they do...it will make their day.
From the District
The district is adopting new textbooks in K-12 Mathematics courses. Do you want to take a peek and give input on on what materials should be adopted? Please visit the Math Textbook Adoption webpage at https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/26920 to see the products up for public review. NOTE: Chattahoochee HS will be a review site for ALL 6-12 level Mathematics products should you want to review in person. Just be sure to check-in at the front office.
Please contact Susan Baker bakers1@fultonschools.org at the district with questions.

Showing Up to School Matters for R.E.A.L.
Happy Spring! As the weather is starting to warm up outside, the atmosphere inside the building is heating up as well. Seniors are working hard in preparation for graduation, underclassmen are taking exams and planning for next year’s schedules, and spring sports are in full swing. All these activities require a commitment to being present and ready to engage! Let’s continue to build good routines by setting your alarm clocks, establishing relationships - who can bring you to school if you miss the bus, and taking advantage of the learning labs and help sessions that are available each week. Spring into action because Showing Up to School Matters for R.E.A.L.
Advanced Placement Exams
AP Exams will be administered from Monday May 1st through Friday May 12th, 2023

- For afternoon exams, students must report by 11:30am at the latest. Note that students will need transportation from school in the afternoon, as tests may release later than the afternoon school bus runs.
- CollegeBoard charges fees for any late changes and for any unused exams- failure to report will result in a $40 fine (per exam missed) added to the student’s FCS account.
- Any student who fails to report to their scheduled AP exam will be charged $40 for an “unused” exam fee.
- Reach out to our AP Coordinator, Mr. Martin (martinj10@fultonschools.org) if you have any questions.
Summer School 2023
Registration is open for both face-to-face Summer School at Northview HS as well as Fulton Virtual! Summer School is required for students who fail either semester of an EOC course (Algebra 1, Biology, 11th/American Lit, and US History) and strongly recommended for students who need to retake a failed course. Essential information for both face-to-face Summer School and Fulton Virtual is below. More detailed information, registration directions, transportation, and Fulton Virtual completion benchmarks can be found here.
Parents/guardians should check their student’s transcript on Infinite Campus under the Documents tab to see which courses may need to be retaken, both from prior years and this current school year – passing is a 70 or higher. Please also look at your student’s current Spring 2023 semester grades, as well as their total # of earned credits found in the Credit Summary box on their transcript. As a reminder, students must have earned the following # of credits by August 1, 2023 to be listed in each grade level next school year and to be on track for graduation:
- 10th grade – must have earned 5.0 credits
- 11th grade – must have earned 11.0 credits
- 12th grade – must have earned 17.0 credits
Face-to-face Summer School at Northview High School – June 5th – July 10th, 8:20 am – 12:20 pm
***Only for students who have previously taken a class and not passed***
- Regular registration closes on May 25th – late registration for classes that still have available is in person at Northview HS on May 30th and June 2nd.
- Students are permitted to take up to 2.0 total credits in the Summer.
- Students may only register for 2 separate courses (example - 9th Lit A and B, and Algebra 1 A).
- Students who finish a class quickly and need to take another class may ask the Summer School Administrator to enroll them in the next class (student in previous example could add Biology B).
- No tuition required for students retaking a course they previously failed!
- All students attending face-to-face Summer School will receive breakfast and lunch free of charge.
Fulton Virtual - May 31st – July 12th
***Students will not be able to log in to any Fulton Virtual course from outside the United States, so please make travel plans accordingly!***
- Regular registration closes on May 25th - late registration for classes that still have availability will be online from May 31st to June 6th.
- Students are permitted to take up to 2.0 total credits in the Summer. However, we do not recommend students take more than 1.0 credit on Fulton Virtual due to the amount of time they are expected to spend on their courses (each 0.5 credit will require at least 3 hours of week per day).
- No tuition required for students retaking a course they previously failed!
- Tuition required for students taking a course for the first time. Students must drop a course by June 7th to receive a full refund of course fees paid. Students who are administratively dropped are not eligible for a refund.
Chattahoochee’s Counseling Office is open through June 2nd. After that, any questions about face-to-face Summer School need to be directed to either Northview High School or to the Summer School office at 470-254-6883 or fcssummerschool@fultonschools.org, and any questions about Fulton Virtual Summer classes need to be directed to 470-254-6578 or virtualcampus@fultonschools.org.
Emerging Leaders Program
What is the Emerging Leaders Program?
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) offers a unique opportunity for sophomores and juniors from North Fulton high schools who wish to develop leadership skills, identify and address community issues, and interact with local leaders. This is accomplished through a combination of interactive lectures, discussions, site visits, outside activities, community service, and networking opportunities.
This program provides the skills and knowledge for students to be effective leaders in their communities. The program is built around class days with specific topics to be addressed such as healthcare, government, professional development, financial literacy, mock interviews, strength building, public safety, and much more!
Do you have a student at your school that stands out among their peers? Do you see potential in the student that needs to develop their leadership skills? This program is for them!
This year, we have 43 students representing 11 high schools in North Fulton. This program is great for your student to step out of their comfort zone, learn new skills, develop new relationships, and engage in their community.
You can find the application for 2023-24 HERE. Deadline to apply is April 1st (students also need a recommendation letter to apply).
Register for our FREE virtual information session on March 7th HERE.

School Cafe Serves Locally Grown Green Beans in March!
In March, the locally grown green beans served at lunch are part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Harvest of the Month Initiative. These locally grown green beans are heading straight from a family farm to your lunch plate. Because it’s grown closer to home it helps support our local farmers and takes less fuel to get it to our café. Not only are these locally grown green beans good for the environment, but also, they are great for your body, being an excellent source of vitamin A! Did you know the average production of snap green beans in the U.S. each year is almost 800,000 tons?! Be sure to pick up the farm fresh green beans in the school cafe!
