Newsletter Highlights
This month's newsletter will focus on the junior class and their navigation of life after high school.
Junior Timeline
- What is your plan after high school? Begin to concentrate on a more specific path: college, vocational/technical school, workforce, military, etc.
- Begin taking SAT & ACT in the Spring. See below for spring test dates and registration deadlines.
- Some selective colleges may require SAT Subject Tests. Plan to take these in June.
- Visit colleges - Students receive 2 college days per junior year and senior year. Check in with Attendance Clerk prior to college visit.
- Attend college representative visits at school and in DFW. Reps frequently visit FMHS during lunches. See Counseling website for dates that reps will be on campus.
- Attend FMHS College Forum on April 23, 2020.
- Begin to narrow list of college choices.
- Register with NCAA Clearinghouse and request transcript to be sent at end of junior year (if pursing college athletics).
- Continue to build resume (CHOICES360).

What is CHOICES360?
Choices360 is a comprehensive, easy-to-use, online career and academic planning resource that helps students graduate with a plan.
Choices360 helps High School Students:
- Explore college and career options that best fit their interests and goals
- Navigate the college selection process
- Find ways to pay for college
- Create a resume
- Build a portfolio they can take with them
Students can access CHOICES360 using their LISD sign-on credentials through LISD Learning Hub.

Event Information
Junior Parent Meeting
FMHS Counselors will host a Junior Parent Meeting on Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 pm in the FMHS Auditorium. We will cover where your child should be in the planning process for life after high school and what you and your child can do to make this transition as easy as possible. We will also have a panel of College Representatives who will speak to certain aspects of the college application process. We look forward to seeing you!
