Teachers Report: Nothing to report this month.
Principals Report: We are trying to just be at school with a normal routine lately with the weather challenges. Leader in Me is having their second coaching session coming up. There will be a coaching meeting with grade levels on Thursday. The lighthouse tea was reschedule to be on 2/18 and will using the Lighthouse team rubric. Student idea tickets were addressed today with the Lighthouse team. Great ideas were presented by students such as dividers in the urinals for the boy’s bathroom. There are lots of opportunities to hear our students’ voices. Also, it seems that this year, families are actively seeking to be in the Washington school district, living with family, etc so that they will be assigned to Washington, especially diverse families. Shoutout to our teachers for making Washington a great place that is sought after by our community.
Request for Funding: None.
Committee Reports: Fundraising: Boxtops are being submitted as some expire March 1st. We are concentrating on wrapping up Milk Moola and ensuring we submit everything by their end of program. Next restaurant night is going to be Dairy Queen in April. Date still waiting to be confirmed. Barnes and Noble fundraiser is set for March 2nd, from 12-4pm. We are working with teachers to coordinate a draw for families to come, such as a Readers Theater or various teachers reading. We will be requesting the cash option to apply towards our playground equipment fund. Eileen to follow up with Alison on the 20th to see who can come. Goldie the mascot will be present at the event. We will have an online link emailed out to the teachers so they can distribute it to parents. Bookfair: Next bookfair is 2/7 on Reading Night. The online sale was extended to the 21st. Bookfair will run from 5:30-7:30 and Reading Night from 6-7:30. Yearbook: February 15th due date for $10 orders. After that, price will increase and there will be limited quantities available. Walk-A-Thon incentives still being considered. Casey to check on fruit/buns/food etc being donated for that day. Conferences meals will again be provided by Mankato Independent Originals and Jolene. Conferences will be on the 11th, 14th, and 18th. Also seeking ideas for an Educare Basket theme.
Snack Cart: Checked around the area and only 1 PTO did not get involved in the process of implementing a snack cart. One had a grant and one had PTO backing. A few options are presented to parents: 1. Here is my $50, 2. Here’s $50 plus extra to provide a scholarship to another student. 3. Here’s what I can donate now and my telephone number so that we can discuss the options for my family. Snack cart was voted upon by those in attendance and unanimously approved by a vote.
Motion to Adjourn: Diane (1) Hilary (2)
