Important Information for the Week
Donation Drive
Our Donation Drive is almost finished! So far we have raised $1,200 to be used towards all the great initiatives that School Council has considered this year. This includes full school arts experiences for all children, funds to support parent events in the school, the school nutrition program and playground improvement (just to name a few!). We will not be bothering you with any other third party "selling" programs this year - Our goal is $6,000 and we are well short. Please help us to make our goal - consider donating before Friday and receive a receipt for tax purposes.
Grade 1 - 6 Holiday Concert
Our Grade 1 - 6 Holiday Concert is being held this Wednesday (December 5th) from 6:30pm - 7:30pm at Port Hope High School. Please note that our school gym is NOT big enough to host such an event, which is why we are hosting at the High School. Please ensure your child is at the school by 6:15pm. We will be accepting donations for the food bank upon entry - help us to meet our December 1/2 tonne challenge! Please remember the work and dedication that has gone into this event. We kindly ask that you stay for the entire concert (less than an hour) and do not have your child leave after they have presented. Thank you for helping us to make this a special event!
Proposed 2019-20 school year calendar
KPR is seeking comments from students, parents, guardians, staff and community members regarding the proposed school year calendar for 2019-20. Please review the proposed calendar and comment using the online survey available on the home page of www.kprschools.ca by Monday, December 10, 2018. The dates being proposed for Winter Break next year are Monday, December 23, 2019, to Friday, January 3, 2020. Last day of classes before the break would be Friday, December 20, 2019, with students returning to class Monday, January 6, 2020. First and last days of school, March Break and PA Days can all be viewed on the proposed calendar.
Festive Fridays
For the three weeks of December, each week will have a class challenge to complete together. At the end of the week if the challenge is met, then the class gets to participate in the Festive Friday.
Week 1 (Dec 3-7) Challenge: Christmas Dance
Each class needs to come up with a Christmas-y dance together. If they complete this challenge, everyone gets to wear Christmas Hats/Hair on Friday, December 7th.
Week 2 (Dec 10-14) Challenge: Christmas Song
Each class needs to come up with a Christmas-y song together. If they complete this challenge, everyone gets to dress as their Favourite Christmas Character on Friday, December 14th.
Week 3 (Dec 17-21) Challenge: Christmas Play
Each class will read a holiday-themed book together. They will then re-create the story. If they complete this challenge, everyone gets to wear Christmas pyjamas on Friday, December 21st.
School Council Candy Grams
School Council will be offering Candy Cane Grams for sale next week - all proceeds going towards our School Council initiatives. More information to come home this week!
