Coffee and Conversations December 3rd at 8am

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Timberwolf Family,

I am beyond grateful to be a part of this amazing school! One of the attributes that impresses me most about our student body is their characteristic of kindness. Our students are kind to one another. They smile, collaborate, open doors for others, tell trusted adults if they are worried about other students. Our students are inclusive and practice empathy. I am so proud of our kids and the genuine love they bring to school every day. This is a compliment to their parents. Thank you parents for raising such fantastic young men and women!

I also am in awe of our fantastic teaching and classified staff! Our staff know how important relationships are and truly have a heart for kids. Our teachers have open doors, welcoming kids in their rooms at all times. Our classified staff know our students by name, give them high fives and care deeply for our kids. Our admin team have the desire for every student to succeed, both in and out of the classroom. We are truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful place.

As the holidays approach, take the time to let your students know how important they are and how proud you are of them. Being a teenager is hard, but I am proud to say that our Timberwolf Teens have an army around them, encouraging them to be the best version of themselves.

In return, they have made us be the best we can be!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mrs. Gonzales

JFK is learning more about student wellness!

This week, JFK took a team of district and site leaders to Diamond Bar High School and Walnut High School to learn more about social emotional learning for our students. We explored a peer counseling program as well as a student Wellness Center. The team walked away inspired and excited about the possibilities of providing continuous support for our Timberwolves.

Meet Dr. Kristo

We are very excited to share that Happy, Healthier, Productive is officially on campus. Dr. Kristo and team is running individual, family and group therapy on our JFK campus. If you are interested in therapy for your student or family, please reach out to Mrs. Carson. She will send you a referral along with information on how to get started.

Classified Employee of the Year

Congratulations to Maria Renteria, our classified employee of the year. We are so thankful for her tireless efforts of keeping JFK in working order! The reason why our facility is beautiful is in part, because of Maria. If you see Maria around, give her a hug and tell her thank you for all of her hard work in caring for our school and our staff.

Deputy Carrillo

Introducing Deputy Carrillo! Don't be alarmed if you see an officer walking our campus or our halls. JFK is now on Deputy Carrillo's rotation. He will drop in periodically as a presence on our campus and available if we need him. We are so excited to welcome him to our school!

A visit from San Marcos Unified

We welcomed the San Marcos Unified Superintendent along with a district and teacher team from San Marcos! They are going to open a Middle College in their district and wanted to learn more about JFK and our middle college model. We were thrilled to share best practices. Good luck on your middle college adventure!

I SEE U Nomination

Students...it’s time for November awards.

This is all about you! The Peer Appreciation Awards for students to nominate each other. For this award, you are doing a heartfelt nomination of a student who has inspired you, shown kindness, encouragement, support, generosity or whatever moves you to say “I.See.U” to them. The 2 chosen students will each receive a $25 award. This is NOT a popularity contest, so to combat this, here are the Rules:

· Your name & Grade

· Person you are nominating (name& Grade)

· Brief explanation of the act that occurred to make you want to nominate them. You will have to provide a real reason

· Whether you want your name/reason to remain anonymous when the Booster Club awards the nominee.

Email this information to: jfkbooster@gmail.com

The cut-off for each applicable month is the 4th Friday of the month. Thus, due to Thanksgiving Break please submit the entries for November nominations by December 3, 2019 @ 12:00pm (Noon).
