April 30th - May 3rd
Highlights from our week:
Shared Reading - This week our class read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Students enjoyed interacting with this story, especially as it was familiar to them. We completed a craft using coffee filters to make a butterfly.
Writing - After the completion of our persuasive writing unit, we spent time this week focusing on personal narratives. These narratives related to student experiences that were recent or in the past. Students who completed their writing with a beginning, middle, and end, with two sentences in each section, were allowed to type their writing and put it on Seesaw. If your child has not posted on Seesaw, they have not finished the assignment.
Science - In connection with our Shared Reading book, students learned about the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly and the butterfly's life cycle. Students completed a visual of the life cycle using a paper plate and a variety of noodles.
Math - This week we began Unit 7. Students worked in pairs and groups to create numbers using groups of tens and ones. Snap cubes were used to create the groups after students used spinners and dice to determine the amounts needed. Our class learned two new games for adding with tens and ones and subtracting by tens.
