Did your student sign up for a Dual Credit Class? Please take note.......
If your student has selected to take a Dual Credit (DC) class in our building through MCC (McHenry Community College) next year, you will begin to receive information from MCC. Students will be receiving account information and passwords on their D200 student email account in the coming days. Please have them save these emails.
Students who have signed up for some DC classes will need to meet an entrance requirement. They can do this in 1 of 2 ways:
1) They can take an ALEKS test in Math, or an Accuplacer test in Reading or English.
2) OR, they can use their scores on the SAT to qualify for the classes. If the students are not old enough to take the SAT, they may need to take the other test.
The ALEKS test is required for students who will be taking one of the following classes:
DC College Algebra & Trigonometry
DC Statistics
Please be aware that students needing to take the math placement exam, ALEKS, will need to complete a practice test on their own. Students will meet with Mrs. Harmer at school next week to get this process started.
Students who need to take the English placement exam, ACCUPLACER, are those enrolled in:
DC College Composition I or II
Basic Nursing Assistant classes
Remember to have your student save the MCC emails.
Please contact Mrs. Harmer at aharmer@wcusd200.org with any questions.
Parents of 10th and 11th grade students.......
As a parent, you can provide consent for your student to opt-in to the Student Search Service when they complete their answer sheet. Student Search Service connects students with colleges and scholarship organizations by sharing their information with participating organizations. This provides you and your student with:
• Information about colleges and universities that match your student’s academic interests
• Information on financial aid and scholarships to help deserving students access scholarships they’ve earned
• Information about majors, courses, and degree options
The College Board only shares student data with eligible colleges, universities, and scholarship and educational opportunity programs that signed an agreement to only communicate with students for the purposes listed above. These entities most often connect with students based on expected graduation date, cumulative grade point average (GPA), score range and intended college major.
Student Questionnaire –
As a parent, you can provide consent for your student to participate in the student questionnaire. The information from these questions will be added to their College Board student record. Your child’s responses to the optional questionnaire:
• Provide data used by the College Board for research and planning to improve tests and services
• Help match students with colleges, universities and scholarship and educational opportunity programs
The Student Guide describes what the questionnaire asks and how student information is used. Please review the Student Guide and indicate below if your child will or will not complete the optional questionnaire and opt into Student Search Service.
**Students can still receive usable scores without this information; however, if you chose "No", colleges will NOT be allowed to reach out to students through College Board. The responsibility of looking for best fit colleges will fall on the student and families.
Students will be bringing home a hard copy of the form you need to sign. You can print your form from the PDF below if you prefer;

SAT Test Prep with John Baylor starts for Juniors.
You can help your student by making sure that they are here every day to take advantage of these tips from John Baylor. Students will also get to meet John Baylor on April 9th when he comes to WNHS. Please help your student understand how important this test can be to their future plans.
