Embracing Culture, Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Break!
Bluffsview Families,
Last week we were thrilled that so many families choose to join us for our First Annual Embracing Culture Festival! It was a wonderful time celebrating the rich cultures that make up Bluffsview, spotlighting all we are currently doing in this area AND giving back to our community.
A quick story that really shows how truly special our Worthington Community is: Thursday morning I received an email from the music and dance group we had scheduled to preform in the gym. Although we were bummed, I reached out two to students to see if they could preform in the gym as the main event. Both Eiden Rhea and Anna Gorman were a little nervous, but said they would do it. Mrs. Van Winkle reached out to Mrs. Ellis, a Bluffsview parent and current Orchestra Teacher at Perry Middle School. Within a few hours we had 7 more musicians come and share their talents with us! Many were past Bluffsview Bears! That is what makes our community so strong and special, we show up for each other and help out! THANK YOU to Mrs. Tori Lowman-Colles and Ms. Rebekah Immel who are our Diversity Equity and Inclusion Champions who led this event. Thank you to our PTA president, Kristen Menhart and Linh Rhea for their help and support. We look forward to having this event again each year! If you weren't able to attend, no problem! Attached are links to videos that were shared that spotlight how we are embracing culture at Bluffsview.
This week we have another staff, student and family favorite...THE TURKEY TROT! Tuesday, students will trot during their related arts time and various times throughout the day. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and has a water bottle. Information and envelopes went home at the end of the week for donations. We are raising money to buy new risers for our performances as our current risers were purchased when the building first opened! THANK YOU in advance to all who donate.
Speaking of donations! THANK YOU for all who donated to the Worthington Resource Pantry. We are busy packing up the goods for pick up. We will get a total amount out soon! Have a great weekend and Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for each of our students and families!
Honored to be a Bear,
Julie Payne
