Newsletter Week 4 Term 4
St Joseph's School Waipukurau 10th November 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou
A very warm welcome to week 4. Yesterday we held our school athletics. We were really lucky with the weather as it was a great day. The students all took part in track and field events. Please see the results below.
The seniors had a fantastic time at camp last week although they did get a bit wet doing some of the activities, they all came back buzzing about what they did.
Goodluck to the team from Room 5 and Room 6 who are taking part in the Ki o Rahi tournament today, I look forward to hearing how you went.
It is with great joy and sadness that I inform you all, that Miss Girvan has accepted a position at St Mary’s in Hastings. She will be starting there next year. Miss Girvan joined our team in 2020 as the DRS and Room 5 teacher. I know she will be missed, however, I feel very blessed that we have had the chance to work alongside her and share in her passion and enthusiasm for life, learning, and faith. We wish you all the very best for your future and may you be blessed with joy.
This week is Scholastic Book Week (8th Nov to 12th). Books will be on sale for parents to purchase from Monday to Friday before and after school. Parents must wear a mask coming onto school grounds and only enter the hall from the church car park.
Each day teachers are sharing their favourite book from their childhood, and we have special guests coming in to read like Father Paul and Mayor. We will also do a stop, drop and read each day.
The book I shared with the students today is Horses of Dream land by Lois Duncan.
On Friday the 12th November, we will have book character fancy dress day. Come dressed up as your favourite book character. We will have a parade and judge the costumes after morning tea.
Teacher only day on the 26th of November. The staff will be having our second teacher only day to continue the work on our localised curriculum. The school will be closed for instruction on this day so please ensure you have arranged child care.

This Friday you have to dress-up as your favourite book character! You could win prizes for best dressed character. There is a prize for each year group!
This week we have had important members of our community and all our teacher’s read their favourite childhood book for the school which we are very thankful for.
