Charger Check-In
December 16, 2021
A Note from Ms. Owens
We have almost arrived at Christmas Break and I would wager that our teachers and staff are more excited for some well-deserved down time than our students! We are in the midst of a fun week at St. Catherine! On Tuesday, our kindergarteners and first graders had some fun on the Polar Express. That same day, our students had performances from the Intermediate Strings and Strings Ensemble from Mother McAuley. Our preschool students presented a lively Christmas concert for their families on Wednesday morning. Our Student Council members have done a bit of caroling for classrooms in the mornings. In science, Mr. Mohr's students made snow and Mrs. Felmon's students competed to build the most sturdy gingerbread house. Today was Holiday Headgear Day and we had Santa hats, reindeer antlers, elf hats, Christmas bows and all kinds of fun things on heads all over the building. Our 7th and 8th graders also had a fun trip to a Chicago Wolves game!
Tomorrow, students, staff and faculty are welcome to go "Crazy for Christmas" and wear their Christmas spirit from head to toe! After Mass, we will play a little school-wide Bingo. Students will be dismissed at 1PM and extended care will not be available.

Peace,
Kristine Owens

An Update on Fr. Dennis
Our dear Fr. Dennis has been released from the hospital. He is home and in the process recovering. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
Changes to the School Calendar
The first day is Tuesday, January 4 which will extend our Christmas Break by one day. School will resume on Wednesday, January 5.
The additional two days will be added to already-existing long weekends (a requirement of the Office of Catholic Schools). Those days are Friday, February 18 and Friday, March 11.
We have one additional day remaining and we are reserving it as a potential Snow Day. If we need to cancel school because of inclimate weather, we will be able to have a real snow day - no remote learning, no remote teaching, no Zooming. We can only do this once this school year. Additional snow days will have to be remote learning days so we meet our required days of instruction.
