Weekly Update

September 14-18

Hallways and Transitions

Thank you for your help and support in encouraging all students to walk silently in the hallway. We have seen great improvement already and truly believe this will help in all transitions. We will continue to be a presence in the hallways and will be monitoring for proper procedure as well as making students redo improper behaviors.

Notifications and Changes

*Please make sure you are updating Engrade at least twice a week. In addition, please be reminded of a few grading guidelines:

  • Test grades should be counted twice (except spelling and weekly sight word tests - cumulative sight word tests are counted twice). You will need to make two separate entries in order to count tests twice.
  • Please regularly self-assess your grades on assignments. If you notice a particular assignment that the majority of the class has done poorly on, it may be necessary to redo the assignment or drop the grade. Please do not hesitate to ask for guidance or help.
  • Each student should have his/her lowest grade dropped for each subject. Test grades that are counted twice should not be dropped. Please do not drop grades prior to progress reports; grades should only be dropped before report cards.

*Progress reports are due to the office by Friday, 9/18. At this point, only potential concerns (grades less than 80) should receive a progress reports.

*There will be no music classes on Wednesday, September 16. David will be going with 1st grade to the zoo.

*Process boards need to all be updated with student work, descriptors, and pictures by Tuesday, 9/15.

*Your two evening and one morning conference dates are due to Michelle by Wednesday, 9/16.

Our lower elementary teachers (Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade) will meet Thursday, September 17th at 7:30 am. Please come with one new word work idea to share. Also, please self-evaluate your room and ensure Daily 5 centers are properly labeled. We will be discussing both items.
