The Riverwood Review
4th Edition - 2022-2023 School Year!
A Message from Principal Smith
Dear Riverwood Families,
I hope that you enjoyed the extended Labor Day weekend and used the time to reconnect and recharge. On Tuesday, many of our teachers participated in important training and enrichment activities.
We look forward to welcoming you to open house next Wednesday, September 14 at 6:30 pm. Please allow plenty of time for parking and carpool if you can. Please find the schedule for the evening below.
Next week is also the club fair for students. On Friday, September 16 during all lunches on the outdoor track, students will be able to learn about Riverwood’s more than 60 clubs and where they may want to get involved.
On September 28 from 6-8 pm, Riverwood will host College and Career Night in our gym. Please visit our website to for more details and to register for this very informative evening.
September is suicide prevention and awareness month, and we will do our part to provide potentially life-saving information to our students. Students will learn about the signs of suicide, understanding the importance of practicing self-care or showing a friend they care, and understanding when to seek additional help. Later this month, we will share additional resources that are available to students and their families through Fulton County Schools and its partners.
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that Sunday is September 11 which is the 21st anniversary of the attacks on our country. Even those that are were not personally impacted, were changed because of the events of that day. Please keep the victims, their families, and our first responders in your thoughts.
Enjoy your weekend,
Kindra Smith

Homecoming Dance - Ticket Information
- All students (9-12) may purchase dance tickets for $20 cash or check (no card).
- Dance tickets may only be purchased by Riverwood students during their assigned lunch period and not by parents.
- Dance tickets will be sold during lunch in the Cafeteria starting October 7th for Seniors/Dual Enrollment and then beginning October 13th for all students.
- Ticket sales will end either October 21st (D-lunch) or when the maximum number of 800 tickets have been sold—whichever occurs first.
- There will be no ticket sales at the door the night of the dance.
- Other than buying one additional ticket for a date, Riverwood students must purchase their own dance tickets (no guest tickets will be sold during lunch).
- Students will be required to present their physical dance ticket for entry into the dance—a sales record will not be available at the door for students with lost tickets.
- Tickets are non-transferable, meaning students are forbidden from selling their ticket to another student.
- All Riverwood students and their guests from other high schools are subject to Fulton Schools’ student code of conduct.
- Homecoming is from 8:00pm to 11:00pm and all students must arrive by 10:00pm—no students will be admitted into the dance after that time.
- No large bags or outside food/drink will be allowed at the dance.
- There will be no reentry, meaning that students may not come back to the dance after they exit the lobby past the ticket table.
- Students are responsible for their shoes, purses, jackets, and other personal items during all times at the dance.
- Homecoming is over at 11:00pm & students must arrange for transportation home well in advance in order to be picked up on time.
Guest Tickets for Students From Other High Schools -There will be an extremely limited number of guest tickets available. Therefore, Riverwood students should not invite a guest from another high school until after they have purchased a guest ticket. Please do not disappoint your guest by creating an unnecessary and avoidable crisis by asking them to Riverwood’s Homecoming without first possessing a ticket for them to attend the dance. -After the school day on September 21st , guest tickets will be available from OSP on Riverwood’s website for a total of $60 ($40 for one guest ticket and $20 for the accompanying Riverwood student’s ticket). After purchasing from OSP, these tickets will be available for pickup from Mr. Kadish before/after school in room 3224 only in exchange for a printed, paper copy of the Homecoming Guest Permission form (available from Riverwood’s website). Riverwood will administratively delete/refund your OSP purchase if you do not submit the required paperwork to Mr. Kadish by October 20th—making you ineligible to attend the dance. If you purchase more than one guest ticket, Riverwood will administratively delete/refund both of your OSP transactions—also making you ineligible to attend the dance.
Don’t wait till the last minute! Mr. Kadish (classroom 3224) would be more than happy to help you plan ahead so you don’t have any disappointments buying your Homecoming tickets! kadishj@fultonschools.org
