A Note from Ms. Owens

Hello Charger Families,

We've had a busy week with the first Hot Lunch on Tuesday and Picture Day yesterday. We have more jam-packed days ahead of us too!

On Friday, all students, staff and faculty are invited to show their Charger pride by wearing spirit apparel to school. We will celebrate our fall sports teams with a Pep Rally at 1:30 in the gym. All fall athletes are welcome to wear their jerseys or athletic uniform tops to school. Parents are welcome to join us for the pep rally!

Sunday will be full of Charger football and cheerleading as St. Catherine’s will host St. Barnabas for our Homecoming/Pigskin Classic at PIE Field (108th and Kenton). Please note the new start times for the first two games. Keep in mind the first game will start at noon, and if games are running ahead of time, the other games will start early.

  • Noon -- 4th Grade NEW TIME
  • 1 PM -- JV-B 5th Quarter NEW TIME
  • 1:30 PM -- JV
  • 3 PM -- Varsity

Families who ordered wristbands for the Pizza Party after the Homecoming Games can pick up the wristbands at PIE Field near the scaffolding during the games on Sunday. (updated at 3:10 on 9/19)

On Monday, the 23rd, students will begin wearing regular school uniforms. The button below has the guidelines for regular school uniforms, gym uniforms and appearance.

Thank you for all you do to support the St. Catherine community! Have a great rest of the week!

Peace,

Kristine Owens

Eat & Earn at Chipotle on Monday, September 23

Stop in for dinner at the Chipotle at 11018 South Cicero between 4 and 8 PM on Monday, September 23. Show this flier on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting St. Catherine to make sure 33% of the proceeds are donated to the school. This does not apply to online orders.

Dress Down to Support Pediatric Cancer Awareness

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. To honor and support our own Marty Brogan and Micaela Marose, as well as so many other children facing this challenge, SCA will sponsor a dress down day. Next Thursday, September 26, students, faculty and staff at St. Catherine of Alexandria are invited to bring in $1 to participate in a dress down day to support Pediatric Cancer Awareness. All donations will go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Fall Spirit Wear

The SCA Fall Spirit Wear store is now open! The store will close on Sunday, September 29 at midnight. Items should be delivered by October 11.

Please take a look at the site today and select your favorite items for yourself and your family members.

ACT Aspire Summative Scores

Families with students in 4th through 8th grades are now able to access ACT Aspire Summative scores. These scores are from the tests students took in the spring of 2019. The scores are available via PowerSchool. Directions for accessing scores are available below. Please note which search engine you are using and follow those specific directions.

We have heard from a few families that their screens do not get past the "loading" phase when trying to access the scores. We have reached out to PowerSchool for assistance with this and they've given a few pieces of advice.

  • Once you see the "loading" window, you should also refer back to the directions for the particular browser you are using. The directions will tell you what you need to click next.
  • Chrome has put out several updates recently and PowerSchool is not up to date with them, so Chrome may be troublesome.
  • Firefox is the most reliable browser to use.

Tuesday Hot Lunch Ordering

The link for placing hot lunch orders is below. Please remember that ordering closes at noon the day before delivery.

There will, of course, be days when parents have ordered a hot lunch and their child is absent. On those days, parents (or another designated person) are welcome to pick up the child's lunch. In order for this to happen, parents must notify the school of the hot lunch pick-up prior to 11 AM and then the actual lunch must be picked up before 12:30 PM. We cannot keep lunches beyond that or send them home with students due to food safety regulations.

Morning Care and Extended Care Billing

Families who have registered for Morning Care and/or Extended Care will see the registration fee on their Smart Tuition invoice for October. The fee for one child is $25. The fee for two or more children is $50.

If you have questions about your bill, please contact Ms. Omiecinski.

Queen of Hearts Raffle

Queen of Hearts is rolling over. After the third week, the pot is $26,645!

This Sunday, September 22, is the Pigskin Classic at PIE Football Field (108th & Kenton). The winning ticket will be pulled at the conclusion of the Varsity Homecoming Football Game.

For this week's drawing, purchase $20 in tickets and receive an additional ticket to win $200. You can get more details by clicking on the banner just below. Keep buying those tickets!
