PRINCIPAL POINTS
Parents,
I just wanted to send a quick reminder that we will have Meet the Teacher this coming Monday September 12th at 6pm. We will welcome all of our parents at 6pm in the cafeteria. At 6:15 we will dismiss you to follow your student's schedule. Student schedules will be provided in the cafeteria. Parents will have time in each teacher's classroom for a presentation over curriculum and classroom procedures.
Mrs. Madison will be hosting a senior 101 class in the MPR for any parents that have dual credit classes.
There will also be a FFA ice cream social immediately following in the Ag shop.
Thanks so much and we hope to see you Monday night.

VAHS WELCOMES NEW STAFF
David Singleton, Math
I separated from the army in 2012 at which point I began attending Texas A&M - Commerce. I graduated on December 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a focus in secondary education. After graduation, I spent the majority of last spring as a long term substitute teacher at Farmersville High School, teaching a special needs algebra I class. I also had the privilege to work cooperatively with the school’s mathematics faculty to co-teach their algebra and geometry classes. I have a daughter, Misty who is 21, and a son Ethan, who is 19 and starting his first semester of college.
I am very excited to be a part of the Van Alstyne team and look forward to working with each of you over the next 9 months.
Kes Ingram, Technology
My name is Kes Ingram. This is my 14th year teaching in Van Alstyne, but my first year teaching BIM. I also coach Volleyball and Track. I am married and we have two girls, both who attend VAHS. I love spending time with my family, reading, sports, and being outdoors. I am excited to be here at VAHS!

Bubba Sedlacek, Special Education
WE DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY
We don't want your money. We need 15 minutes of your time.
There will be a Ride and Drive event this Saturday, 9/10 at the VAHS parking lot from 9-2. We need drivers who are 18 years old or older to test drive 2 brand new Lincoln's. If you do that Ford/Lincoln will pay us $40. If you only have time for one, Ford/Lincoln will pay us $20. No purchase necessary. Plus there is free stuff for coming! There will be some goody bags to go when you come, so please come out and support the volleyball and basketball teams.
Check out the pictures of one of the cars you can drive along with some of the kids you will see working.
PLANS FOR NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
As most of you are aware, due to growth, the District is planning on opening its next elementary school in August of 2018. The Van Alstyne Board of Trustees has been researching and discussing the best configuration for our elementary schools. The two options being considered are making both schools pre-kindergarten through fifth grade or making one campus pre-kindergarten through second grade and the other campus third through fifth grade. Please take the time to look at the information gathered on the link below. If you would like to give input on other things to consider, a link is provided at the end of the article.
