What's Buzzin' at Bryant

Week of September 11, 2023

A Message from Mrs. Johnson

Hello Bryant families,

Can you believe it? We are almost half way through the 1st trimester. Time has sure flown by. If you have questions regarding classroom procedures, work load, or anything school related, please be sure to contact your child's teacher. As we progress through the year remember that everyone has areas of strength and weakness. There may be some content areas that may come easily for your little one while others may present some difficutly. Maintain open communication with the teacher regarding how you can work collaboratively together to ensure the support your child requires is being offered. We are here to help.

Two decades ago the US was faced with one of the most deadliest attacks on US soil.

Since the attacks, the US has remained diligent in our efforts to ensure our values as a democratic nation remain in tack. We will never forget all of our fellow countrymen that succumbed to the tragic event on September 11, 2001. Let our effort to lead with love, kindness, and understanding be our way of honoring thier memory.

As always, thank you so much for being such wonderful partners. Have a fantastic week!

The Core Virtue for the month of September - Diligence

Diligence is doing what needs to be done with devotion, dedication, and determination. Showing diligence involved making a constant and earnest effort to accomplish what has been undertaken, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the person.

This month, as part of our social-emotional development discussions, classes will discuss what it means and what it looks like to demonstrate diligence. Please join us by talking with your child about demonstrating diligence and never giving up, even when things appear to be difficult.

September Students of the Month

Congratulations to all of the students who were recognized as our Students of the Month for September. We appreciate all of your hard work! Keep up the awesome work!

Who has the best attendance?

Congratulations to Ms. Reed and her super students for being recongized as the class with best attendance average last week. In addition to our students, parents are to be recongized for ensuring their children are at school, on time ready to go! Thank you for your support. Keep up the great work!

Parent University

This year, Bryant is so excited to launch a series of parent trainings through our Parent University program. Each session will be geared toward helping to provide parents with tools to support their children in the areas of academics and social emotional behaivors. Our first parent night has been scheduled for September 27, 2023 from 6:00 p -7:00 p. Childcare will be provided. Please do not miss out on this awesome opportunity.

Active Shooter Drill

To ensure the safety of all staff and students in the event of an emergency, all schools are required to schedule and participate in various safety drills. This week, our first active shooter drill is scheduled. The goal of the drills is to ensure students are aware of where to go and how to cover for safety if we are every faced with the unfortunante circumstance of someone being on our campus with the intent to cause harm. This will be new for our younger students so I wanted to ensure parents were aware in the event you would like to speak to your child in advance. The drill is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13th. The exact time will be unannounced. Students will be expected to shelter in place in their classrooms until the "all clear" has been issued. Teachers will support students with being in a location in the classroom with reduced visability while remaining as quiet as possbile. There will be no simulation of the sounds of a firearm or anything that may bring unnecessary stress to our students. An announcement on the loud speaker will be given indicating the school site is on lock down and to shelter in place. Once the campus is cleared by the admin staff the drill will be called to an end.

As a reminder, visitors will not be allowed in or out of the school site during drills. Parents will not be allowed to enter the campus to withdraw students until the drill has concluded. This holds true for all drills (earthquake, fire, active shooter, etc.). You are welcomed to call the office if you have any questions.

Parking enforcement

You may have all noticed the prescence of parking enforcement around our campus. The purpose of the parking enforcement officers is to ensure all drivers are adhering to parking laws when dropping off or picking up thier children from school. The ultimate goal is to make sure all of our students are safe! The front office has fielded several calls regarding parking enforcement being present. As a reminder, it was posted in our parent bulletin for the first 3 weeks of school that their was a high likelihood parking enforcement and/or RPD would be present. It is routine for both agencies to support with enforcement of parking and moving violations throughout the school year.

Bryant is a small community school with no parking lot and no designated pull through area. This presents a huge challenge therefore, it is important that everyone follow all posted signage to ensure a consistent flow of traffic. We understand that some parents like to walk their child to the front gate while others prefer to transition in/out quickly. If you would like to walk your child to the gate, please do so however do not park your vehicle in an area that is marked with white, red, or blue curbing. I recognize it may be an inconvenience for some to park a little further and walk to the gate but given the layout of our school site it is a task we must undertake.

Any citations that are issued to drivers will be the sole responsibility of the driver. Neither the school site or district is responsible to resolve or dispute the citation. Thank you so much for your continued cooperation.

Join a Bryant Parent Group!

Parent, we need you! Joining one, two, or all of Bryant's parent groups are a wonderful way for you to get involved in what's going on with the school community. We are always looking for enthusiastic new members to join our team. Be part of planning school activities, fundraising, budget planning, etc. Most meetings are held after school with the option of attending virtually or in-person. We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings.

Attendance Matters!

Regular school attendance is the best predictor of a students success. If you child is at school on time every day, teachers have a better opportunity to identify and address any needs your child may have. It also helps to ensure your child feels as if he/she is part of the learning community. It can be very hard to enter into an enviornment when you feel as if you don't have a good grasp on what is going on specifically because you have been absent from school. This includes being tardy. Routines. schedules, and expecations for the day are established in the first few minutes of class. Although it may seem like it's not important, it helps classes establish community. Let's be good Bryant Bees! Please ensure your child is at school, on time, every day!
