A message from our School Nurses

As you stock your medicine cabinet to prepare for cold and flu season, remember to double check labels so you don't double up on medicines containing acetaminophen (Tylenol) - the most common drug ingredient in the U.S. It's safe and effective when used as directed, but taking more than directed is an overdose and can lead to liver damage.

Here is a list of common medications that contain Tylenol:

http://www.knowyourdose.org/common-medications

Follow the label directions and NEVER TAKE TWO MEDICATIONS CONTAINING ACETAMINOPHEN (Tylenol) at the same time!

Report Cards

Report Cards will be mailed home the week of January 26, 2015. Please be sure to check your mailbox. If you do not receive it by February 2 please call counseling for a copy.

Briarwood needs our help

Do you have any gently used teen books and chapter books at home? Please consider donating them for a Briarwood Elementary event. They are looking for books that our 6th and 7th graders may not be interested in reading any longer that maybe 4th and 5th graders would appreciate. There will be a donation box available in the WWMS Front Office. Please help promote literacy throughout our district. Thank you in advance for your help.

Wolverine Ways

The PBIS team has planned a January incentive for students who are following our Wolverine Ways: Be Safe, Be Ready, Be Responsible and Be Respectful. Students who have no caution cards, office referrals and less than 3 tardies will qualify for the incentive. They need ONE Wolverine Ways ticket to get into the event. Talk with your student to see how they are doing following our expectations.

Attendance to School

Getting your child to school on-time every day, unless they are sick, is something you can do to ensure your child has a chance to be successful at school. There are several things that you can do to promote good attendance:

1) Establish and stick to basic routines

2) Talk to your child about why going to school every day is important for their future success.

3) Come up with back up plans for who to turn to for help to get your child to school if something comes up.

4) Reach out for help if you are experiencing tough times that make it difficult to get your child to school. We are here to help you and work together for your child's success.

5) If your child is absent, work with the school to make sure your child has the opportunity to learn and make-up what they missed.

EVERY DAY COUNTS!

Court in School

On Friday, January 23 our 8th graders will have the opportunity to be a part of the "Court in School" program. The 37 District Court will be holding session at WWMS! Judge Matthew Sabaugh, 37th District Court Judge, will be holding his court in our Auditorium. The 8th graders will get a chance to see the justice system in action and ask the judge and attorneys questions as well as see the consequences for people who have made poor choices. In the past we have witnessed sentencing for defendants who have been charged with shoplifting, drunk driving and drug possession. It is real and an important lesson for our students. We are pleased to have Judge Sabaugh back.
