IMPORTANT QUARTER INFORMATION FROM MR. STEEN

Today is the last day of the 1st Quarter and some students will have a change of schedule (CSO class or Broad Experience) on Monday, October 25. Check the Portal to confirm your child's change of class. Click Standards Grades to get to the quarter rotations.

Please note that Quarter 1 Report Cards will be available for viewing in the Portal starting on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Lincoln's health education classes will begin in PE classes during the 2nd Quarter. Lessons incorporate the Illinois Health Standards, i.e., coping with stress; understanding emotions; and changes during the teen years. The health grade is included in the PE grade on the Portal, but will have separate health categories. The two grades are averaged as one grade on the Portal and for the report card.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!

Students have the option to “dress up” for Halloween on Friday, October 29. Here are a few guidelines:

  • No masks or inappropriate props. (Inappropriate props would include weapons and look-alike weapons.)
  • No blood or violent themes.
  • The regular Lincoln dress code applies. (no exposed undergarments, no inappropriate images or words etc.)
  • “Dressing up” for Halloween doesn’t have to mean a traditional costume. You may choose to wear orange and/or black or simply choose to wear a favorite sports team’s jersey.
  • Any costume deemed by a teacher to be inappropriate or interferes with the lesson will not be allowed and the student will be sent to the office.

If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please feel free to contact me. (rsteen@d57.org)

PROSPECT HIGH SCHOOL REMINDER

Prospect Football Game Admissions for Middle School Students

Prospect High School is excited to see so many future Knights at football games on Friday nights. Non-high school age students will only be admitted with their parent/guardian(s) at the gate. Students are expected to sit with their parent/guardian(s) during the game. We are no longer allowing groups to be admitted with only one paid adult due to the increased number of disciplinary issues with middle school age students in and out of the stands.

THE HEALTH OFFICE . . . . VISION AND HEARING NOVEMBER 4, 2021

Lincoln’s annual Vision and Hearing Screening will take place on Thursday, November 4. Please remind your child to bring their glasses to school on that day. Please note that not all students are screened, this is determined by state mandates. Also, vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye exam by an eye doctor.

Attention 8th Grade Parents of students who wear glasses or contacts: Please email Mrs. Smith, RN, (ssmith@d57.org) with the date of your child’s last eye examination.

Please call the health office with any questions or concerns.

ASK THE LINCOLN OFFICE STAFF!

Question: What is the best way to pick up my child during the school day?

Answer: The front office prefers either a signed note or an email to Mrs. Moran - rmoran@d57.org AND Mrs. Wiley - ewiley@d57.org from a parent with the child's name, grade level, reason for early dismissal and pick-up time. Also, please include the name of the adult picking up your child if it is not a parent.

It may be necessary to issue your child a pass if the pick-up time is during a class period. Otherwise your child should come to the office during the passing period. Written notice eliminates the need for a parent to come in and sign the child out. When your car pulls up outside Door #1, your student may exit from the front office.

If you do not know in advance and must remove your child from class, please come in to the front office and we will call your student out of class. However, this can be disruptive to class and may involve a longer wait time.
