Notes from the Library

January 6

Lessons in the Library...

First grade students are continuing to connect their knowledge of goods and services in the community to primary sources. We are using the See, Think, Wonder Visible Thinking Routine. Pictures below--aren't they fabulous!

Second grade students are evaluating texts in preparation for their weather research unit later this month.

Fifth grade students in Mrs. Riley's class are going on a comma scavenger hunt and exploring persuasive literature.

Student Art & Writing Submissions

Your students may be looking for ways to share their creative spirit. I've put together a few resources where students can submit writing, poetry, illustrations, or photography for print or online submission.

Where's Waldo in the Library?

Waldo and friends have made an appearance in our library. Five characters and three lost objects are hiding on our library shelves. Students are challenged to locate each character/item and record the call number of the secret location. This gives students practice identifying call numbers on items as well as exploring areas of the library they may not usually visit.
