Abraham Lincoln
On January 1, 1863 Abraham Lincoln displayed courage when he gave the Emancipation Proclamation. This was a very courageous act because he did something that half of the country did not agree with. He still freed the slaves despite what others said because he felt it was necessary that everyone be treated equal.
AJ McCarron
AJ showed courage because he helped a man with cerebral palsy, AJ Starr, feel special. When no one else would spend time with Starr, McCarron did. Even though it might have made him look less popular for hanging out with AJ Starr, AJ McCarron had the courage to look past what others thought to make someone feel good.
Rossa Parks
Mrs. Parks was courageous when she decided to stand up for her rights. She knew the consequences that would befall her but she swallowed her fear in order to protect what she believed in. Her courageous act gave other African Americans the determination to follow in her footsteps to earn their equality.
