November is Parent Engagement in Schools Month!

This month, we are highlighting the ways parents can get involved with their child's education and with our schools!

Did you know that we have resources on our website that will help parents keep informed and engage with their child's education? On our website, under the "Parents" tab, we have information, resources, and district policies and procedures. We update these frequently, and they are meant to help parents with a variety of topics, including inclement weather, tutoring, the Student Code of Conduct, and more.

In addition, the Virginia Department of Education website officers a variety of resources to support families, including information on School Enrollment, Graduation Requirements, and more. Click here to learn more from the VDOE.

It's Flu Season

This week, Virginia has seen a very high activity level for the flu, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Here are some preventative measures you and your family can take to to avoid the spread:

  • Receive a flu vaccine (approved for those six months and older)
  • Keep your hands clean
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
  • Stay home if you are sick. Don't return to school or work until you are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
  • Routinely disinfect surfaces, such as counters, tables, bathrooms, toys, especially if someone in the home is sick.

Learn more about the flu in Virginia from the Virginia Department of Health.
