Time is FLYING!

We are in the thick of things. Students are busy learning, competing, and serving. The end of the first six weeks has come and gone. We have many things to celebrate and a busy October ahead of us. Please take a moment to enjoy our celebrations and note happenings for the month ahead. As always, thank you for trusting us with your student. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything.

Questions to ask your children about their school day...

  • What is the biggest difference between this year and last year?
  • Can you show me something that you learned (or did) today?

See Something, Say Something

Today during RTI/UIL many of our students watched a video about the importance of using STOPit. The video can be accessed by clicking this link. Take some time to view the video and talk with your child about the importance of if they see something, they need to say something.


You as a parent report as well. Using the app- STOPit search for "New Home ISD" and you can then report an incident.

My Circle of Control

As we age, we learn life lessons about what we can and cannot control and how to navigate those things that are outside of our control.

Andy Warhol Comes to New Home

Secondary students created their own "canned" art to mimic Andy Warhol's "Cambell Soup Cans" from 1962.

Talking with the Author

7th grade students in Mrs. Hickman's class had the opportunity to speak with Ji-li Jiang, the author of the book they are currently reading in class, "Red Scarf Girl". During this time, they heard her first-hand account of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and were able to ask questions for a deeper understanding of her story.

Extended Absences

If your student is going to be absent more than 3 days please follow these steps:

  • Contact the school @ 806-924-7543 to report absence and arrange time for pick-up of school work.
  • Teachers will need 24 hours to gather work
  • Teachers will provide either paper or digital work.
  • Students can email teachers or communicate through Google Classroom with questions.
  • Students are expected to complete the assignments daily, unless too sick.
  • Parents are asked to return assignments on paper after 3-4 days (if the student is out an extended time) so that the teachers can grade work in a timely manner. Assignments in Google Classroom must be submitted daily if possible.

Teachers are doing their best to keep students up to date when absent but the students must do their part as well. This includes the student working on assignments and completing readings each day if possible. Doing work during their absence is the ONLY way they are going to be able to keep up.

Cafeteria News and Forgotten Lunches

Lunches this school year will be $2.50. Free and reduced lunch prices will be adjusted accordingly on a student to student basis. You can send cash or check with your child for their lunch account or add money online. Breakfast will remain free for all students. Click here for the current menu to view our most current breakfast and lunch menu.


If your child forgets his or her lunch, there will be a cart for secondary students at the main entrance for you to drop off the lunch. Please make sure to label the bag/ lunch box with your child's name and grade level.

The New Home Leopard Secondary mission is to show love through our actions and create a positive impact on our students today, providing leadership opportunities for tomorrow, and promote productive citizens forever.
