Media
Primary - Students will begin a new unit about poetry and will focus on familiar nursery rhymes. Students will also continue to gain practice using a desktop computer to locate online resources.
Lower El - Students recently finished typing their animal research facts into a brochure using MS Word. Students will continue to learn about the research process through a variety of activities. Students will also research a country of their choice towards the end of the 4th quarter.
Upper El - Students will complete their biography research and will share their learning via a Google Slides presentation.
Music
Primary - Students continue to develop their ability to maintain a steady beat while singing and playing classroom instruments. We will focus on stories that lend themselves to the creation of original lyrics for simple songs. The children use three-part cards to help them develop language and to make connections between their work in the music room and in their classroom.
LE - Students are developing motor skill coordination and reading ability as they play classroom instruments from two categories - pitched and unpitched. They are focusing on songs/poetry about the earth as we discuss our role as good stewards of the planet.
UE - Students will examine the difference between melody and harmony, playing simple chords to accompany songs. The literature selection includes Patriotic music and the creation of original limericks about a famous North Carolinian.
Orchestra - Students will perform solos, duets, and ensemble selections on Thursday, April 14th at 6:00 p.m.
Chorus - Two main events take place this month for our chorus members this month: Thursday, April 14th at 6:00 p.m. - The Great Fuzz Frenzy - an adaptation of the story by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel
