As we embark on our second full week of the school year I want to thank all parents for your patience as we have been navigating through some challenges to begin our year. Thank you for your understanding as we have worked to balance out the class size numbers and changes in schedules over the past two weeks. As of Tuesday this week, the schedules should be balanced and students should not have too many disruptions to their schedules moving forward.
We want to thank parents for cooperating with staff as we battle the congestion (particularly after school) in the student parking lot. We know that our parking issues are not conducive to a speedy dismissal but your assistance with following the guidance of our staff to get traffic moving as quickly as possible is essential to getting students out of school safely and in a timely manner. Please continue to follow the requests of staff as we cannot have cars double parked or blocking in other vehicles. Your attention in this matter is greatly appreciated. Staff is doing their best.
Quarantining of students and staff is happening due to Covid 19 exposure. Our health office is bustling and busy with making sure the information gets out to parents of students who need to quarantine. Please see below under the Health Information to understand the process if your child needs to be quarantined. Please realize that these procedures are subject to change as we get new direction from the county and state.
Finally, please join me in welcoming Mr. Alfredo Acosta as the new Assistant Principal to FMS. Mr. Acosta will be joining our team on Wednesday, August 25th. We are thrilled to be having his expertise and experience on our administrative staff. WELCOME MR. ACOSTA!
Have a wonderful week,
Dr. Terri Daniels
Principal

HEALTH NEWS
COVID 19 Guidelines
- Parents and guardians should call the school office as soon as possible if their student is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, seeking a diagnosis, or receives a positive test result.
- FCUSD Dashboard reporting is coming soon
- Contact tracing:
- In order to maintain confidentiality and privacy, only individuals who have come into close contact with a verified COVID-19 positive case will be contacted.
- Quarantine guidance for fully vaccinated individuals: fully vaccinated individuals who remain asymptomatic after an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and are NOT required to quarantine. If you would like to turn in a copy of your student’s COVID_19 immunization, your student can drop it off to the office.
- CDPH quarantine guidelines for close contacts (closer than 6 ft for longer than 15 minutes) – Person C on the A-D chart
- Please note: in order to test out of quarantine, ALL requirements must be met
- Both parties must be wearing masks to undergo modified quarantine
- FCUSD will be partnering with an organization to offer testing. More to come on that
- Quarantine duration:
- If your student has been told to quarantine due to COVID-19, please email your student’s teachers to request access to make up work while your student is on quarantine
Medication on campus
- All medications need to be verified by the school nurse. Emergency and Diabetes medication (inhalers, epi-pens, glucagon/insulin) may be in students’ backpacks after medication forms have been turned in to the health office.
- Please check that your student’s medication is clearly labeled with their name on it and that it is in their back pack
**Parents: We need your help with making sure your child brings their mask to school. We do have a supply of masks. However, some students are not being responsible with how they are using them and are asking for a new mask continuously. We need you to make sure your child is bringing a mask to school with them and wearing it appropriately while inside. Your help with this is appreciated as we are going through a high number of masks daily.
PLEASE NOTE: CLUB RUSH IS COMING!! MORE DETAILS TO COME, BUT OUR STUDENT BODY LEADERSHIP WILL BE HOSTING CLUB RUSH LATER IN SEPTEMBER. WE WILL HAVE CLUBS THIS YEAR AND INFORMATION WILL BE FORTHCOMING. SO PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT.
We apologize but our order for PE clothes is still on back order. We hope to be getting the shipment in soon. We realize this has an impact on students being able to dress out if they are waiting for PE clothes. Mr. Burke and our PE department have provided information on what the solution is in the interim. Please contact your child’s PE instructor if you have any questions regarding this. Your child will not be penalized for not having the proper PE attire at this time. Again, we hope to have a shipment arrive very soon.
